Just ordered my iPad. Of course I'll be happy to cancel when i win one from Logos.
Can't wait to use it with the Logos app.

Hi there,
I ordered the 3G models. I believe it's better for me because I don't have to be worrying about WIFI. I do some travel and still in some airports and hotels you can't find free internet access. So, 3G makes sense for me. I regards of space I ordered the 64GB. I like taking my music and movies when traveling and that space is good for downloading books( from Logos or else) to save them in the hard drive and read them offline too. I hope this helps... I do not see the iPad that useful since you cannot use it as a phone. The iPhone's next generation, and its current generation for that matter, is likely as complete a package as you will get.

You are right. It is defnitely not a phone. But I think i'd look a little weird holding this thing the size of a large but thin paper back up to my head.
I got the cheapest one. My iPhone is only about half full and I don't plan to put any music on the iPad. I will only put movies on it for long trips. I plan to mostly just study the bible, read, and take notes. I will also see how it does for preaching from it.

32 GB WiFi.
I have a MiFi, so the 3G is an unnecessary expense. I only have about 8GB used on my 16 GB phone, but I opted for the 32 because I believe the resale value will be higher when the next version comes out.

I think I will wait for the HP tablet with Windows 7. Somehow I can't find any other advantage in the iPad than the bigger screen (than iPhone). Otherwise it is just bigger iPhone/iPod. But I will be anxious to hear from all of you what is your experience with it.

Paul, his use of language reveals his bias, if you pre-order you are an **** because you haven't held it in your hands yet. What he doesn't consider, is that when I pre-order, I am not charged until my product is shipped so in reality it costs me nothing more. Secondly if I don't like it, Apple has a 14 day return policy, so I will be able to use it for 2 weeks and still risk nothing.
So, it doesn't cost me one cent extra, I risk nothing and I get it delivered to my door step for free. I fail to see the down side.

I actually would be exposed very quickly. Every time i try to preach sermons I didn't prepare I stumble and struggle. I've only tried it once or twice and told the people from the start what i was doing.

Agreed, but I can see part of the point he is making. Jobs is such a dynamic, and seductive salesman, that even if the iPad turns out to be wonderful, it is near impossible to know now with all the hype surrounding it.

Have you ever been in an Apple store? I returned a 140 dollar set of ear buds, all I got was "Thank you very much, is there anything else I can help you with?" [:D]
I have the iPhone and love it. People are saying all the iPad is is a bigger iPhone. For the price point, that is exactly what I am looking for. If all I can do on this thing is read books, surf the web and watch movies, I would be happy for the price that I am paying. So, bigger version of the iPhone with a faster processor and better graphics? Bring it on.

Tablet form PCs have been available for years - I spent some time trying to use Logos on one a few years ago. What about the iPad makes it better than these tablet PCs? When I use Logos now I want one of two things - screen real estate for serious study or the ability to curl up with a book (usually a commentary) and just absorb it. A tablet form PC does not meet the first need. And no computer screen allows me to just read - eye fatigue sets in - I dig out my paper copies for such reading. something like the Kindle would work great. There is an SDK for the Kindle out now - is Logos working on an app for the Kindle?

For my use, the ipad is much lighter (unless they are wildly wrong with their release specs) making it much easier to use. Second, from all reports it is very fast, which will make it far faster than my TabletPC - (an HP TX2500). And the battery life will be much better than my Tablet PC.
After I use mine I will compare them and post about my experiences either on my website or in one of the two places that I write for.

It does not sound like you are into serious reading on your Tablet or any other computer screen. The iPad will indeed be lighter than most mainstream tablet pcs - 1.6 lbs vs 3-4 lbs, but still heavier than a Kindle - 10 oz, or 1.2 lb for the Kindle DX (essentially the same size screen as the iPad).
Faster? I seriously doubt it. Of course, it will depend on what you are running on it - most Tablet PCs are running Intel Core Duo processors and Windows Vista vs the iPad with an Apple A4 processor and running iPhone OS 3. And you will not be able to run mainstream applications such as word processing until someone writes a word processor app for the iPhone OS. If you do nothing but surf the web it will be fast enough. If you need a versatile portable computer ....
Apple claims 10 hr battery life, but nobody seems to take that very seriously. Apple claims similar specs for the battery life of the iPhone, but I know from experience that a couple of hours using it full time (talking, surfing, text) is more like it.
