Curious: What does "Preparing Library..." mean? What is the program actually doing?
Thanks,
Peter
I don't know the answer to your question, but it seems that my program is almost in a continuous "Preparing Library." Sometimes it hangs on 5% for several hours on end. I, too, am curious!!
BUMP...
Faithlife?
Any insights from Faithlife folks??
"Preparing Library" can mean that Logos is doing one of several things:
It's normal for Logos to quickly Prepare the Library each time you start Logos. The process may take much longer if there has been a major update, or you purchased a lot of new resources.
James, if you find that Logos is perpetually Preparing the Library, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-875-6467 or customerservice@faithlife.com.
Hi Joe
It's normal for Logos to quickly Prepare the Library each time you open the Library.
Did you mean “open the Library” or “start Logos” here?
Thanks for catching that Graham.
I did mean “start Logos”. I have edited my post accordingly.
And if anyone is interested, here is a more technically accurate description:
"Preparing Library" essentially means that Logos is moving downloaded resource files into the permanent location, and/or updating library catalog with new resource metadata.
If you want even more detail of what's happening in this stage, this post of mine from 2013 is still true, I think and seems to chime with Joe's explanation: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/75059/525016.aspx#525016.
