In a passage guide, when you hover over a commentary, the popup shows the book's description (see below). I thought I remembered the popup being a snippet of the book's content RE the passage in the PG range. Can anyone confirm?
This is something I asked for a long time ago and didn't realize this new option has been done until I read your post...thank you Logos. Before this update, hovering over a commentary gave you no information and when I would want to build a custom layout for a book of the Bible I was studying, I had no idea what the commentary or book in the passage guide was about or who wrote it. Now I can know that information before putting it into my layout.....Thank you again, Logos...

I am glad you got what you want. I wish, however, there was an option to have it display commentary information about the passage in the passage guide. I would prefer something along the lines of what displays when you hover over a lexicon/dictionary in the lemma section of a Bible word study. That would be more consistent.

the way that I get both is to use the "Cited by" tool. I give it a scripture passage then click on one of my collections. When it populates I immediately click on "more' and a search window opens.
At that point I get BOTH. The article title is listed first, followed by the title of the book.
Hoering over the article gives the information that you are asking for.
Hovering over the title of the book gives this new cover information.
Yes, it is a few extra clicks, but, for me, this is the best of both worlds.

Again, I'm glad your needs are being met. But I've been thinking about this and the hovering that now takes place in 4.0b seems to be a library function not a passage function. It does not seem consistent for where you are working in Logos. Showing the book's content RE the passage makes more sense for a passage guide.
I tried the cited by suggestion in this thread and that works, but I still wish there was a way to show both the library info and the passage info in the passage guide (not necessarily in that order). I'd like the hover to show the passage info contained in the resource book -- and be able to right-click on the book title to reveal the library info. To me the passage info is more relevant in the passage guide and should be available as the default, with the library info available as supplemental info.
I agree with you on the needs for more info. My immediate need was, not so much about a commentary, but with a book written by someone who's title I know nothing about....I have a large library on bookshelves and have always only purchased books by authors I knew about....all I want is to know the same about a book listed in my passage guide before I put it into and layout and then delete it out of the layout because I wasn't interested in what that particular author had to say about it. I love the new feature and anymore info which can be added would be very helpful, but i do not want this info we are not getting to be replaced.

Ken, I still am running 4.0a and when I hover over a title in the 'Commentaries' sub-panel, I get no popup whatsoever. The fact that in 4.0b there is a popup is nice, but once you've used the product for more than a short time, it seems that a popup telling you about the commentary would be less than utilitarian, and therefore, a short sample for the entry would be better as you suggested.

I think I have finally figured out what is happening, but i'm not really sure that there is any answer.
In "My" (customized) Passage Guide, using one of my own collections containing commentaries, both the title of the article and the title of the book appear. Each of these (title of article & title of Book) give a pop up displaying either the article or the book cover.
In "regular" Passage Guides, The problem resides with the basic "Commentaries" section. It has always displayed the title of a book resource (and now finally also shows that book's cover). It has never displayed "article" titles. Unless there is a way to re-program that entire Commentary section you will never see what you are looking for. I do not know why the Collections of commentaries can figure out the "Article" but the regular Passage Guide Commentaries can not.

The only thing about the cited by method is that you do not get information about the specific verse you are studying but rather you get all the places in the commentary that cite that verse. Whereas in the passage guide if you click on the commentary link the commentary opens specifically to the verse you are studying. Therefore it would be very helpful if in the commentary section in the passge guide you could just hover to get this information.
I just wish there were some consistency. It works differently in the passage guide, exegetical guide, and cited by. see below. It would be great if, everywhere in the program, you could see either the book info or the content info, depending on where you hover.

you may already know this but based on your screen shot, you've got commentaries appearing in the "custom commentary section" and the "plain-vanilla" section of the PG...that's why the difference.
I don't believe that the "plain-vanilla" section was meant for commentaries...I think you'll also notice that the info in the "plain" section is not as organized but finds all kinds of extra hits, as opposed to the "custom commentary section."
Notice something else: In the Plain vanilla guide section, if you put commentaries there they return the wrong passage; book and chapter because the one asked for is only mentioned in the text!

I see that now, thanks. However, there is a difference between the behavior in passage guide and cited by. In passage guide both the book and section have popups but in the cited by, only the section has a popup. see below. I find the vanilla display almost useless and wish there was a way to display both book and section information with popups. In every situation. I like consistency. I guess there is probably some consistency going on now, and I could eventually wrap my mind around it. But as it is now, I get surprised a lot thinking something is going to happen based on what happened in what I thought was a similar situation.

Odd. My system is not behaving that way -- I do not get any popup over the book name, in either compact or expanded view. Even in your screenshot, the book popup is quite different from the book popups in the guides, that give extensive book info. That is not consistent behavior. If I hover over a book name in one place I expect the same behavior when I see the book name in another place. I am curious why you get a book pop up in cited by while I get none. [edit] I'm using 4.0c (4.03.3.9511)
