"Failed to Load" during Logos 8 installation

All,

I bought a new laptop with Windows 10 on it to install Logos. During installation I get the following error:

If you click "Retry" it just does the same thing for a minute and I get the same error.

I tried "Reparing" Logos. I tried uninstalling entirely and reinstalling it. I tried downloading the installer again. None of it seems to work.

I worked for 45 min on the phone and through Teamviewer with tech support and they sent my "file" to the developers. That was 3 days ago. Still have no logos (other than the web app).

Any help is appreciated.

It is unacceptable that FL hasn't gotten back with you. I'll see if I can track someone down.

Tanner, I'm very sorry for the trouble. That little dropdown depends on an online service that tells the application what resources should be in the "Recommended" download for your particular Logos 8 library. For some reason, you are getting an error trying to reach that service. The last time this happened, we were able to find, diagnose, and fix the issue on our server quickly; but this week, the team that's responsible for the service happens to be away on a retreat. We'll fix it as soon as we are able next week.

If you were looking forward to downloading only some of your resources (using 8.4's new Cloud Resources feature), I'm afraid you'll need to wait a few more days for the fix.

If you are okay with downloading and indexing your entire library, you could work around the problem by installing 8.3, which would then update to 8.4.

    1. Uninstall Logos.
    2. Open the %localappdata% folder.
    3. Find and delete the Logos folder. (more information about this on the Logos wiki)
    4. Download and run the 8.3 setup file.

Thanks for your patience, and have a great weekend.

Thank you, Adam. The intention was to download my entire library. I will use the old version now.

You will need to find and delete your Logos installation folders. This wiki article might help you locate them: https://wiki.logos.com/Installation_and_Indexing_FAQ$27s#Where_does_Logos_install_resources.3f
