How do you write articles?

For those who write articles, I am interested in seeing what methods are used. For example i could use the sermon editor to draft daily devotionals but id's that the best way? Is there a simpler method inside logos? Or do you use something outside of logos like MS Word or scrivener? Thoughts?

If you mean a journal article, their publishing guidelines would indicate in what format(s) they want submissions. Depending on the answer to that question, it may not be convenient to write your article within Logos.

Well, not even as formal as a journal article but say a pastor wants to write a daily article in their church bulletin or on their website. Obviously he/she could go the route of using a word processing application so I'm wondering if there is any advantage to using logos and, if so, how it would be used.

I am not currently in vocational church ministry, but if I were to return in the future... I would use some other program (i.e. Word). I don't see any advantages to doing so in Logos.

I agree with JT. I use multiple software systems for my study needs and really only trust the usual office oriented packages for document crafting. I have experienced too much unhappiness when proprietary systems change formats and I now prefer formats that may be read by multiple products. There are many inexpensive or even no cost tools available that are able to read the common open document formats. In a worst case scenario, open format documents may even be examined by a simple text editor and the important content extracted and saved. Rich Text Format and Open Document Format are the most future proof formats at this time.

You could use Logos as your article database which can be tagged and searched based on Logos functionality (as opp. to searching files and their contents within a folder). You could do this by either using the sermon editor to write your articles or the Notes Tool with a Notebook dedicated to articles if you so desire. One might still prefer to use the more extensive functionity of editors such as Word or the environment of writing softwares usch as Scrivener. There can be an element of personal preference here.

I spent many years working as a freelance writer and as an editor for several magazines, This began roughly about the same time as word processors first appeared. It was an interesting transition from pounding a manual typewriter.
Almost everyone in the business relies upon Word or some other word processor. The aim is to get a compatible file in .doc or .docx. I think LibreOffice is just great and more than sufficient. Buying a commercial program is no longer necessary unless you want some special features to help with your creation process.
Speaking of which, you basically need just an outline, written or mental, and just write. Most people make the whole deal entirely more complicated than it needs to be. I wrote articles that were technical. When my grandmother told me she could understand what I had written I knew I had arrived.
