Community Notes
if I‘m teaching on 1 Timothy 6:17-19, how do I see all the community notes. I don’t see anything.

Community Notes is a category under the visual filter menu for each resource. To see these, turn on that filter.
These steps used to work for me, but no longer.
However, you will only see community notes if someone created some in a Faithlife Group for which you are a member.
As of Logos 8, the Notes/Notebooks in a Faithlife Group are no longer updated.
I know it was once possible to see all the Public stuff in Faithlife, because I stumbled into it. [sigh] After an hour of searching, I can't figure out how I did it, or if that is no longer possible.
Got any more clues?

Hi Jack,
I'm sorry you are not able to view Community Notes. I wanted to clarify that Communty Notes are not stored within a Notebook in the Notes Tool, in case that is where you were looking for them. They are found in the Community Notes Tool. You need to turn the Community Notes visual filter on in the Visual Filter menu within your Bible or resource. You also might need to expand the Community Notes option to make sure My Faithlife is checked so that you can see publically posted notes. Hopefully this screenshot will be helpful.
In your Bibles you will see a green note icon that is just an outline this indicates a note others have shared, a solid green one indicates a note that you have shared. To check to see that this is working you can confirm this by checking Genesis 11:31 and you'll see a note I just shared to My Faithlife using my personal account, the note is titled "Destination Canaan".

In my favorite Bible that displays all my Notes, I checked Visual Filters > Community Notes > My Faithlife, and even rebooted Logos 8, but still cannot make the rest of your instructions work for me. It looks like there's something else that needs to be turned on.

What else do you have selected other than "my faithlife"? It is my understanding that you have to be in a group along with Philana for this to work.

Can you give me an example of a Bible where the option is not present? If you are a member of the group you should be able to check the box with My Faithlife and the Group name (that is for notes shared to the specific group).

No need to worry, Brandon, about downloaded Notebooks from other users. Here are easy steps to manage them.
I'm still trying to figure out how I (one time) was able to download Notebooks from other users. Do you have the steps to do that?

We already gave you those directions:
- Make sure that "community notes" box is selected/checked.
- Make sure that the various groups are selected/checked. (Check all of them if unsure).
- Make sure you have a good internet connection
- Wait a few seconds... or a minute.
Those are the steps. HOWEVER: The "your milage may vary" warning: You will only see notes that others have shared. If no one from the groups you are a member of have shared any notes, you will see no notes! Personally, I have zero interest in this feature currently. I am a member of a couple of groups for testing purposes. Most of the notes I have access to are only for testing purposes. The few other "serious" notes, I have no interest in having access to.
There are two cases where I would find benefit to this feature:
1. A particular scholar whom I respect opens up his library of notes. A forum member recently inherited his old professor's library, including all of his notes. I could imagine a situation where the student creates a group to share his professor's notes with fellow classmates. That might be a great way to remember him and to pass on his teachings.
2. As a student (or as a professor... or sunday school teacher) sharing comments on a textbook for his class.
I could see those as being particularly useful. I would not see having random thoughts from a chorus of strangers as being very beneficial.

Not scolding. Just pointing out that we already provided you with your answer. To get results will require that you follow the instructions above including being a member of a group with others who have shared notes.
My other comments are my opinion about the usefulness of the feature... personally, I would only find value in limited situations. I would not see value in wading through random strangers notes or comments To find “good ones.” I would much rather spend that time reading commentaries.

Put another way, If I were advising one of my students, I would suggest that he or she would be able to make better use of their time with another means.
Again, there are a couple of scenarios where I would find great benefit in the feature... just not wading through random comments people have.
