Updates to Logos:
I appreciate the program updates and how continuous improvements are made, but they also take time to apply when I open the Logos desktop. Updates delay my use of the program almost every time I open it, to a point I hardly use it anymore, opting to use the Android tablet instead for reading.
Does anyone update just once per week, etc, to prevent updates from starting when you open the Logos desktop? Is this a good practice if so?
Thanks

How often are you opening Logos itself? Also, you can turn auto updates off. Typically, if you are in Logos every day this should only impact you once a week or so. We just need more details to know what direction to steer you into.
Also, are you talking about program updates or resource updates or both?

Welcome [:)]
Even though often have Logos and/or Verbum open, have set Automatically Download Updates to No (so can choose when to download and index)

If you're using Logos 8.5, they've changed the name and meaning of that setting and the paired setting. Now there are these two:
The first kind of does what "Automatically Download Updates" used to do. If set to "No" an alert will notify you when downloads are available, and you can choose from there to download them at that time if you want; or defer until some other time.
The second determines whether to download new resources or leave them in the cloud (where you'll still have access to them for searching, and they'll show up in the library, and you can download them later if you need to see their content).
I keep the first one set to "No" to avoid unnecessary interruptions.

I changed my settings to same as above. I have been using my android tablet for most of my reading. This may change as indexing will now happen on my schedule. Probably will check for updates before I go to bed vs having to wait on it to finish.
Thanks for your help.

When you have Automatically Start Downloads turned off, you can start an update at any time by typing "update now" in the Command Box. I do this whenever I have a little time that I don't mind if the computer slows down and when I am not in the middle of a project using Logos. Indexing is much faster than it used to be, though it can still be a bit invasive if you don't have a fast computer with an SSD instead of a hard drive.
