How do I delete devotional reading plans from my home Screen?
Under Today's Reading I have several devotionals. I think they were automatically put there and I'd like to delete them to clean up my home screen. I see where I can add to this section but not where I can remove.

Try tapping the icon on the card with three vertical buttons and select "remove card"

Thanks Graham, but there aren't three vertical buttons on the card.
Interestingly these readings only show up on my iPad and not on my laptop.

This looks like an older version of the app - pre 8.0.
To remove a devotional in this version swipe right on the entry and you should get a Delete option
Is there any particular reason you haven't updated to the most recent version of the app?
