How many actual volumes are there in Logos- I own all except one that's in prepub- my count is 47 volumes- but the numbering on the volume covers or title page says I should have 48, are all the volumes available in this series in Logos now?
There are 47 listed on the IVP website
https://www.ivpress.com/new-studies-in-biblical-theology
Thanks I was just wondering why Logos had the latest version number 48
including the one that dowloaded today, there are 47 live books.
This one is forthcoming:

Looks like 48 total

That forthcoming one is volume number 49, according to Google Books. So there should be a total of 49.
Turns out that Volume 39 is missing, both from Logos and from the IVP website. According to Google Books, it's God Has Spoken in His Son (2016). I wonder what happened to it. It is listed on IVP's "Out of Print" list as of Spring 2017. Something drastic must have caused them to pull it, because that's only a year after it was published, and all the others are still in print. The print version is available from Amazon, but it must be in high demand (due to its rarity) because minimum used price is $382.44, and min new is $674.96.
my bad! I have 48 books that are live in this series I got #39 before it was pulled.
as to #39,
https://www.frontgatemedia.com/ivp-issues-statement-about-peter-obrien-plagiarism-issue/
So when the prepub goes live, Logos will have all 48 books that are available today (and some will have all 49 volumes if you bought the O'Brien volume before it was pulled. Agree, it is very good).
I have this volume God Has Spoken in His Son (2016) in Logos but I also have a PDF of it, which was probably due to the fact I converted this series to PDF and carried it around on dvd for years.
So I guess I do have them all so far- just waiting on the next pre-pub to be released.
By the way the Obrien book is excellent.
To clarify
The title
We also are missing Volume 11 "Salvation to the ends of the earth" by Andreas J. Kostenberger and Peter T. O'Brien. It was O'Brien's work that was the reason IVP pulled this title as well. O'Brien's commentary's are excellent and were always highly rated by his peers. His work on Hebrews was my favorite.
So it looks like we are missing two volumes from the series.

Ahh! this one I have in paperback but not in Logos- to bad its dog eared read it several times- may make a PDF out of it.

I have that in Logos. Must have gotten it before it was pulled by IVP.

Apparently his commentaries had some of the same plagiarism issue (lack of proper citation) as they are no longer published in the Pillar series. I also got those in Logos before this issue came to light.
To clarify The title God Has Spoken in His Son Peter T. O'Brien Fell down the hole created when O'Brien failed to the pass the strict plagiarism rules that now dog the academic arena. He admitted himself that his lifetime of note taken didn't fully record every source from which his notes were taken. So when he used these notes to write he did not have the supporting citations available to him. The title (along with others by him) have been pulled by the publishers. And yes the book(s) is/are very good. Shame. Shalom

I guess those strict rules don’t apply to R.T. Kendall who in his Understanding Theology volumes quotes verbatim from dictionaries and other sources as if he was the one who actually came up with the material. Zero citations given! Unless copyright laws were different back in 1996, then his work should be pulled for plain, straightforward plagiarism.
DAL
Ps. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve used and adapted his material in classes and added citations, my point is: If we can have R.T. Kendall, then why can’t we have O’Brien or Kostenberger?
They all contribute to people’s spiritual growth!
Agreed! I just wish I got a hold of O'Brien's WBC 44 before it flew off the servers. It is quoted everywhere! Maybe someone will make a pdf or doc of it and put it in the file forums for me someday
I did snag a paper copy off of ebay so there is that at least

Yes! The fact that these volumes are still engaged by the public is a testimony to the author. I'm glad that Justification and Variegated Nomism made the cut. I have and prize all of the deprecated volumes mentioned in this thread. Since I'm lay I don't have to worry about the scholarly muddle.
I wonder if there is a plan to do a 'revised edition' of them in the future. A lot of places, as people have said, reference them - particularly inside Logos! (Theres a few MobileEd courses that heavily use them)

I used to attend RT Kendall's Friday Night School of Theology. The Understanding Theology books are the notes from his talks. Obviously in a talk you wouldn't necessarily reference all your sources. Maybe in the books they should have, although I wonder if the difference is that the books are intended for a lay audience and not expected to be quoted in an academic setting. I regularly indirectly quote from helpful things I've read, but don't quote my source while preaching as I'm trying to build up the church and not to come across as a lecturer.
Personally, please note I said personally- I think these resources were removed for no good reason- should be put back into Logos, and he author should supply a supplemental reference biblio.
I quote these resources, and use their info all the time- no one cares about this issue- they ask and I tell them- they just shrug.

Just pay the royalties associated with it and be done with the issue. I agree, they should put them back in the market!
Does anyone have any of the works of Peter O'Brien that they'd like to share?
I own 46 volumes, including O’Brien’s retired volume. I’m missing 2 which are nor currently on sale. That would be 48 available in Logos. If it’s a total of 49 — which volume is missing in Logos?
Edit: I found out I’m missing the volume by Kostenberger that also got pulled for plagiarism. If anyone would like to share the PDF I won’t mind
👍😁👌

Write “at” instead of @!or else spambots will steal your email and spam the heck out of you.
In order to ensure users comply with copyright laws and Faithlife stay in business each user needs to purchase thei own copy of a resource, they can not be shared. I realise these are no longer available for purchase but that does not make them a free for all to be shared around. Faithlife books can not be shared, you would need to find someone who has a license to them willing to sell that license to you and you'd need to pay them their asking price plus a license transfer fee to Fatihlife to proces the transaction.
Sharing of PDF, ePub, mobi or txt files for that matter would also be inappropraiate and a violation of copyright.

D2 is right- Obey the Law- sell it if you want to or give it away- but DO NOT COPY AND SHARE.
Is no longer being sold, so if someone that owns it wants to share a PDF they can do so. Copyright laws don’t apply to a product that has been retired for plagiarism. If someone started selling them for profit, then it would be a different story.

Can you provide any evidence or proof to support that claim?
Not a lawyer, and I don’t have a horse in this race. Merely curious, but I couldn’t find an answer on Google.

so what you are saying is that if thief 2 steals from thief 1, then the victim doesn’t have a claim against thief 2?

This is not my understanding but I haven't looked deeply into the issue. Your evidence? I would expect that all the text that was not plagarized would still be under copyright.

I would just say this contact the editors of the series and the publisher- see what they say- that would end this discussion. MHO
😂😂😂 I bet everyone is anxiously awaiting my response 😂😂😂 More coming right after a nice long nap 😴 Being an “essential” employee sure drains you a bit 🙂 😜😜
PS. I’d be careful with the label “thief” — you might end up throwing Zondervan, Baker and even FL under the bus 😜
Well, DAL, get your rest. It's shark-territory out there.
I'd be curious how Christians handle all those PDFs for Christian copyrighted books. Bunches. I'm sure only non-Christians are downloading the Christian PDFs.
BTW, bots know all the tricks to email obfuscation, all within micro-seconds. At best, a hand-written email address no one can read.

Would it be possible to obtain a copy of the PDF you have of the book, God Has Spoken in His Son ? My pastor is doing a sermon series on Hebrews, and he asked me to try to get a copy of this book for him.
Thank you.

Can you send me the PDF of God Has Spoken in His Son?
"Chap511@outlook.com"
Would appreciate the help.
Isn't the PDF under copyright? If so, have you read the distribution restrictions often embedded in the PDF?

This volume still has a copyright- try contacting the publisher, they may give you permission, and supply you the PDF/ docx file- it is worth a try. I have done this numerous times and been successful with different publishers.

This still has an active copyright- even the software I originally ad these threw no longer has it, so I can't distribute it. It is always the best practice to contact the publisher, I have been surprised on many occasions by their response.
