J.B. Phillips' New Testament

Over two years of requests with no response. I have to say that this is very disappointing to me personally. We are talking about an oft-quoted work here.

A digital copy of it is available here, This is the 1962 edition, so it's still under copyright, but I made a PB of it for myself.

The Logos manager responsible for contracting suggested resources once posted in this thread and clarified that they take up all suggestions that come in here (as well as through emails). As there's no reason for Logos to not have a wide-spread bible resource, I can only imagine that the copyrights-holders are not interested in getting this into Logos (note that Phillips is available for at least one major competitor), or the contract negotiations took longer than expected.
These things may be slow - the recently announced Patristics series took one year from contact to start of Pre-Pub with - what they tell - all sides positively interested in the project.
Have joy in the Lord!

How did you tag it with the unique way of displaying verses?

Using 2010 keep formatting- changed font to calibri 11, made the whole NT one document.
I can post the file if you like and create your own PBB.

Yes - would love to see this in Logos. I keep my hardbound copy close to my desk - it is always a part of my survey through translations whenever I start work on a new NT passage.

Bump....
Please release this important translation. To be honest, I am shocked that it is not already available considering how often it is quoted.
You took the "shock" right out of my mouth!
Let me huzzuh the previous "Four Prophets" suggestion and add "Your God Is Too Small" to the mix. In fact, why not bundle the three together...which leads me to ask:
Btw, couldn't this bundle be offered on CP?
A collection does sound good. I only knew of the paraphase. In many ways, it's a window into a perspective, like the targums. An interpretation worth exploring.
But googling away, I suspect the gentleman's struggles in life are even more valuable. One volume put together by his wife after his death, is a gem. His letters. Folks want doctrinal purity, but humanity is not so straight forward.

I am shocked that this is not in Logos. Please get it, and his translation of Four Prophets as well.

There is a pre-pub for Phillips New Testament: Revised Student Edition. Apparently the WordSearch owners got a temporary epub version and the Logos Edition is on pre-pub. The metadata on the current product page details has metadata for the epub, per note at top of the page. I am assuming when it's fully baked, it will be Type: Bible.

It is great to see this finally come to Logos! For years I have used a personal book that I made but a Logos edition will be much better.

45 years ago, the hope was he was going to write an Old Testament also, with the name being Phillips 66. Some of you may be to young to understand but It was funny then.

I really wish that he would have been able to accomplish that goal.

You talk about it as if it's in the past. The brand still exists now, though perhaps not as widespread as it once was.
And just to check if it's really still around, I looked it up in GasBuddy. Yup, it's there.

Thanks Rosie, I have not seen it for years! A little nostalgia. You made my day.

I signed up for pre-pub version, and it's no longer listed in my account. Link above doesn't exist.
any update on this?

Same here, Mike.
I thought they send emails when a pre-pub is given the heave-ho. Maybe they haven't sent it yet (or I overlooked it), or maybe the pre-pub will re-appear with some changes, etc.

After a week or so of unsuccessfully checking-back and making alternate searches for a new posting of the previously rubbed-out pre-pub (which had been requested by many for many years) and no email notification of why the product was pulled, I am now officially giving up. I can only conclude that there's some mysterious dark cloud hanging over this little resource that FL just doesn't want to talk about. I'll have to be content with the PB I made.
