Install without internet connectivity reliance

I'm new to the forum and Logos 8  .Unsure if this has been brought to the developers attention .
My computer is running 1050 ti, i7 8700 16 gb ram.

The problem is not my hardware, its the reliance on the internet, and the lengthy downloads.
Most of the time during the month I only have access to 600 kilobytes of data.  I access this by Cell phone via usb 3.0  tether to my tower pc .

So a 2.4 GB download for the free version  , appears to make it impossible for me to install ; at an hour and the app has downloaded only 1 % of it's total 2.4 GB's of the library I'll never use.

I just want to try the core functionality of Logos 8. The main draw for me, was the hope Logos would offer more advanced notation abilities. And the freedom to do that with relative ease . Which is lacking in most other programs I've tried .    Note taking is the main draw for me when I study and its vital part of my process.  Often the only recourse I draw from is a Strong's concordance and one or two other scholarly works.

Until I have higher data speeds ; i wont be able to simply install the application .

Further other bible programs I've tried don't have this dependency on the internet .
Would be good to remove this dependency for users who simply want to use the software's core functions and resources of choice.  I hope people like me with slow internet will be considered in the future and changes made to the download and install process ...

Logos 8 basic appears to have installed. but, its missing the strong's exhaustive concordance.  when i inquired about that to an agent, they said its part of a paid starter bundle which was disappointing to say the least, given its free in many apps.

While I like the clean uncluttered appearance of the U.I  of Logos 8 , I can't justify using it much without the dictionary in question.  I may attempt to learn the note taking features, but seems I'm not going to be using this app . It had promise .

Logos is reliant on an internet connection to get you up and running. Once installed you do not have to be on it save for updates.

If you have a laptop, all you need to do is go find a coffee shop or library with WiFi. Unless you are really in the wilderness, this should not be so hard.

Greetings J and welcome to this support group of users and friends.

You may find that Strongs is provided free in other applications but I don't think that you will find the same level of integration and utility that you will find once you explore the Logos environment.

Unfortunately not everything in life is free and Faithlife need an income to maintain and develop the software.

A personal habit I try and develop is to pay a fair price for things I need or want and be careful in my negotiations and 'not to reap so close to the edges of the field' that others cannot make a fair living or return.

Stick with Logos for a while I am sure that the investment will pay off.

If https://www.logos.com/product/1212/new-strongs-dictionary-of-hebrew-and-greek-words is the resource you are referring to it is also available as a standalone purchase for $20.

A concordance like Strong's isn't needed with Logos and it's powerful Search engine. You can search the supplied KJV Bible to find the occurrences of any word or phrase, and have them listed and linked to the Bible.

Concordances can be generated, though, via a tool that is available thru a paid Feature Set (Bronze).

    * I doubt that Strong's Exhaustive Concordance is available, as I could only get results for Dictionaries, which are used for original language studies (Greek and Hebrew) based on Strong's numbers and the KJV bible.

After download for installation is done (local indexing can be done without internet), an option for limited internet is changing "Use Internet" to No

Strong's exhaustive concordance has every verse for every word used, which Logos (& Verbum) can quickly do using Bible Search. An example is searching for verses that have two words: God and man (finds 1,132 verses in Top 5 Bibles)

Refining Bible Search by adding a third word: lie causes 10 verses to be found, which is substantially faster than trying to use Strong's Exhaustive Concordance to find all verse(s) having three words: God, man, & lie

Also Bible Search has option to search for all word forms so a search for lie can include lies & lying

Note: screen shot shows Bible search working while Program Setting "Use Internet" is set to No (using my demonstration account that has an order total of $ 0.00)
