How to Link the church fathers into specific scripture verses for research purposes.
Hello All.
I have purchased the church fathers set. Can I link the church fathers into the scriptures to assist me with research? For example, I wish to know what the fathers taught on Romans 1:4, so I link that passages to the fathers commentaries and sermons as part of my research. How can I do this at minimum cost?

Welcome to the forums. I would start with the Passage Guide: Ancient Literature; Collections - Church Fathers; Catholic Topical Index; and Sermons. You could also create a collection of all your catenas and search it as well.
Is there something that they don't do for you or am I misunderstanding your question?
My Catena collection also includes some indices. It comes complete with a humorous misspelling.

Adding to MJ, in both my OT and NT layouts, I keep a CitedBy panel of the fathers, linked to my Bibles. Same for jewish resources (Talmud, etc). Then, as I study, it's automatically scanning the fathers for comments.

1. In Logos 8 (or Verbum 8), at the Home page, click on "Guides".
2. When the dropdown menu appears, click on "Passage Guide".
3. A window pane will appear titled "Passage Guide". Immediately below those two words there will be a search box to enter text into. Type "Romans 1:4", without the quotation marks and hit Enter/Return.
4. Wait a few seconds and lots of stuff should appear.
4a. If you are using Verbum 8, find "Collections Church Fathers" and you'll see the results you're looking for right underneath. You may need to click on "Collections Church Fathers" for the results to appear.
4b. Whether you are using Verbum 8 or Logos 8, scroll down to "Ancient Literature". The results found under "Apostolic Fathers" and "Churhc Fathers" are what you're looking for. You may need to click on "Ancient Literature" for the results to appear.
If you are using Logos 8 but you would like to have immediate access to "Collections Church Fathers" results, type "Set Verbum to Yes" and hit Enter/Return in the search box way at the top of Logos 8. You may have to restart Logos 8 (I haven't done this in awhile, so I can't remember). It will now look different--it will function exactly as Verbum 8 does, including giving you access to the Church Fathers collection in your Passage Guides. To change it back, type "Set Verbum to No" in the search box at the top of Logos 8. You may have to restart Logos 8.
If you run into any difficulties with any of this, please post in this thread. [:)]“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
