Problem with F7 Shortcut to Preview Text Comparison on a Mac w/ Touch Bar

Computer:  2016 Macbook Pro w/ Touchbar

OS:  Mac OS 10.14.5

Logos Version: 8.6.0.0052

Issue:  Hi there - I'm a newer Logos user and I'm trying to make use of the F7 Shortcut to Preview Text Comparison and I can't get it to work.  I've called Logos support and was sent to Wiki and to an Apple support page but neither was any help.  I'm familiar with how function keys work and am able to use them just fine in other applications.  When I hover over text and try to use the FN-F7 (I have to use FN to get the function keys to display on the touch bar) nothing happens at all.

Thanks so much in advance for the help!

Welcome to user forums Joe! [:)]

I can't tell you what the problem may be with your platform, or recommend fixes; I can only say that my Mac 10.14.5 is functioning fine. See below

There's an update available. Perhaps you should try that and see if your problem is fixed.

I updated and normal behavior persists. Are you selecting a bit of text prior to using the preview function? I find this is necessary.

Thanks so much for the response and the screenshot!  I've tried highlighting and hovering.  Neither works, unfortunately.  Maybe someone else will be able to chime in who has had a similar problem.  Thanks again!

Yes. Just checked in to see if anybody was able to help Joe. I'll be away from my computer for the rest of the day.

    Greetings Joe

Not much help from me I'm afraid. On my 2018 Pro running the latest release of Logos and the same OS I can get this to work

    * If I just click in the text of the Bible (not necessary to highlight just establish the focus) fn-F7 brings up the Text Comparison window for that verse.

    * If I highlight a group of verses fn-F7 brings up the Text Comparison Window for that group of verses.

Thanks. I don't have one so I couldn't be of any help. I am thinking of getting a new MBP, but would have preferred to not have the Touch Bar... but Apple has doubled down on it.

Quick update - I managed to find a workaround using an app called Keyboard Maestro.  For some reason, when I ask the app to send an F7 using a custom macro keyboard shortcut, it works perfectly,

I still wonder what the base problem is, but I have a solution that I can live with.  Thanks again for the help, everyone.

I wasn’t sold on the Touch Bar at first.  Now, it is nearly indispensable.  Using an app called BetterTouchTool, you can take control of the Touch Bar and have it do all kinds of time saving and productivity-increasing stuff.  I’ve already started cooking up some Logos-centered uses that I’m excited about.
