Bug 8.7 SR-2: Text Compare on the Context Menu

Text Comparison seems to use my top 4 bibles, and will add the current resource if not present (or it will replace the 5th resource). Either way, the current resource does not become the base text (and text is sometimes not displayed).

If the resource is a Greek/Hebrew bible, it is compared with my top 4 English bibles, rather than my top 4 Greek/Hebrew bibles.

If the resource is a versified non-bible e.g. a commentary, why is TC on the Context menu?

We have a case open for this, and I've added a link to ths thread to the case.

I also created a case for this.

I wrote up a case to leave this for the Reference option, but remove it from the Selection option in the context menu.

    That seems reasonable.

I just noticed that text comparison works differently depending on whether you get there from the new context menu or the new selection menu. The selection menu works as expected. It puts your base text first in the comparison tool and then lists your remaining top 5. (If your base text is not one of your top 5 it lists the first 4 of your top 5 bibles after the base text.) If you get there from the context menu it lists your top 4 in order of prioritization regardless of what your base text is. If your base text is not in your top 4 it lists that one last, after the top 4.

Can the context menu be updated to function the same way that the new selection menu functions for text comparison, with the base text first and then the remaining top 5 bibles?

I'm surprised they don't use the same code, except that original language bibles are still compared with English bibles.

This has been fixed in 8.9.
