I can't highlight with Solid colors or Highlighter Pens.
I have been using Emphasis Markup for ages now and while playing with the new 8.7 facilities on my PC I discovered that if I use Solid Colours or Highlighter Pens neither work however I try to highlight.
Nothing to do with 8.7 I am sure. Logos knows It has not highlighted as I don't get the option to Remove Annotation.
They do work in my Android App however and show happily up in my PC Logos.
Clearly I have messed something up. Can anyone suggest what I pressed or closed down etc that I should not have and what might get it working again? All suggestions welcome no matter how silly they may seem..
PS It has to be my fault as we have no cats to walk over the keyboard.
PPS 8.7 is brilliant. OK there will be niggles but 9/10 so far.

The most probable cause is that you actually ARE creating highlights, but that you have the appropriate visual filter turned off, making it invisible to you.
Try this: Make sure the highlighting tool is open. Highlight some text. Immediately look at the bottom of the highlighting tool. A popup should appear telling you that the highlight has been created. A hyperlink will take you to the note.

Not on PC's! Highlighting will turn ON the Notes and Highlights VF if necessary.

In 8.7, that is now called Delete Notes and Highlights.

Provided the style is an option in the Context menu, I can highlight with styles from Solid Colours or Highlighter Pens. If not in the Context menu, you first have to use the Highlighting tool.

Thanks very much for the thoughts. It is books , bibles in fact anything.
I am fairly certain that it has nothing to do with 8.7. In fact I am pretty certain It showed itself before I upgraded, as I did not see the note about the update until it had been temporarily withdrawn and was thinking it must have updated itself without telling me so I started playing then before realising that nothing had changed and checked the version I was on. I think it was then I noticed it.
I used solid and emphasis almost exclusively until about a year ago and it is these two that have stopped working on the PC. I can have the same book open on my phone and the PC at the same time and highlighting with the same colour on both so it is not the visual filter anyway. The highlighting on book using my phone syncs quickly and appears on my PC version while I can't highlight that book using the PC itself.
Whatever I did has also synced to my laptop also. If anyone get and bright ideas please let me know!
In the meantime I can always create a new palette to emulate the none working ones when I find the time.0 -

NB It is possible to delete a notebook and for it not to be removed from the palette, but to no longer show in the visual filters, thereby preventing any highlight selected from that palette from showing.
Interesting.
Wouldn't that also stop that palette showing highlights when the highlight was inserted from my mobile phone? Those placed by my mobile phone show OK.
In any case, is there any way of removing a stuck notebook from the palette?0 -

Whilst the name of the deleted notebook remained in the palette, I could not apply highlight styles from that palette (none were created). But it was an easy matter to change the assigned notebook in the palette, and highlighting was then possible!

As I stated above, go to the palette and change the assigned notebook (click on it and select another one).

Yes exactly it prevents highlights being created, as the notebook no longer exists, or creates them but since the notebook does not exist, they are not showing anywhere. I mentioned this just in case JohnB has this problem, as it would match his symptoms.
JohnB, I don't think the palette assigned notebook transfers over the mobile app, when creating a highlight on the mobile app it will just create it with 'No Notebook'. With regards to your last query, as Dave advised above, you can just change the either to another Notebook, or Active Notebook, or even No Notebook, from the dropdown icon to the right of the blue 'Bible Highlights' in my screenshot above, or just clicking on 'Bible Highlights'

Thanks so much Kevin and Dave. A tentative click on a different notebook name and . . . back to normal. So simple to cure but the problem mystified me.

It could have remained a mystery except for Kevin. I'll make a bug report so this can't happen again.
