Bug 8.7 SR-2: Highlight Style previews not showing in the Context menu or Text Selection menu
When I select or right-click on text, both menus have buttons for the last used highlight styles, but they don't have previews of those styles. They are just the generic grey button.

This is the expected behavior if the styles in question are your own custom styles rather than the default system styles. Can you confirm whether or not that is the case in your situation? You should be able to hover your mouse over the items to see a tooltip with the style name.

I only use custom styles. The new context menu will be useless for highlighting without showing the previews for custom styles. This is a request to add capability to show previews for custom styles both on the new context menus as well as the note editor. (Please add your vote to this) (also, let me know if I need to add this to feature requests somewhere for it to be considered) Thank you.

Thank you for the response. Yes, they are custom styles. I also only use custom styles, so, unfortunately, this new feature will be useless for me. Could the preview from the highlighting pallet not be replicated here too?

What platform are you running on?
And the status bar indicates that some action is either still pending or unacknowledged. Are there any changes still waiting to be applied to your system?
Thanks, Graham. I am running Windows 10 and the indicator was showing that the program was updated to the newest version, I just hadn't cleared it yet.
But the reason was that it wasn't showing a preview was because it was a highlight with custom style.

Same here. I wouldn't say that makes it useless, it is still a super-awesome update, but it is a shame. :-(

One can hover over the icon and see the Palette/Style name, though.

This has also been the case when selecting custom highlights on iOS for sometime now, so this behaviour does have precedence. Granted, the ios app gives you the full name of said custom highlight, this is implemented by a hover over tool tip in the new right click window on PC/Mac (see above post by Dave).

Thankfully for my Logos highlighting, my iPhone is unable to update to later versions of Logos software (I'm running Logos 6.5.6 on the phone).
The Highlight tool has beautiful previews for custom highlights and proves it can be done.[;)] (might be harder with the new icon format)
The fact that FL is consistent across platforms, which is their stated objective, doesn't make the relatively recent loss of highlighting previews in the context menu and notepad a desired behavior. For the most part, I like the direction notes and context menu have taken and applaud FL for improvements. The dependency on hover for features/information is difficult to impossible to use for those of us who use Windows tablets with touch screens while untethered from our keyboard/mouse/pen. If it's not feasible to display previews for custom highlights for some reason, I would offer the idea of a Settings option to allow the previous list format for highlights as an alternative to the new icons. The list format takes more space, but there are advantages too.

If previews for custom highlights are unable to be displayed in the new icons, I offer a suggestion to provide a Settings options that allows us to use the older list format for the Highlight tool (in context menus and Note Editor). While the list format takes more space, it has advantages as well.
