Unable to download new resources with 4.0c

Don't know if it's the beta release or some other system problem, but it keeps trying to download my new Berkhof set and can't. Here's the relative entries in Logos4Indexer log:

Steve, I never saw the error message you're seeing, but lots of people have been having trouble downloading the Berkhof collection, and I was at first too, but I figured out a way to get it to work.
Check out my solution in this post: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/13820/106491.aspx#106491
See if that doesn't fix your problem, and report back here if it doesn't. (Or if it does; it would be helpful to know that too.)

Thanks Rosie,
I'm not getting quite the same symptom. It does start the download and then fails. Funny part it did download the "History of Christian Doctrines" book, but none of the other.
Unfortunately I don't have version 3 installed any more. Kinda too busy to reinstall it right now, too.
I'll have to wait for another resolution.
Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like you might need to talk to Tech Support about this one. The key error message in there is BITS error 0x80190193 (HTTP status 403): "The client does not have sufficient access rights to the requested server object." BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) is the Windows service Logos uses to download files. The files it is trying to download when it gets this error are LLS:SUMMCHRDOCT (Berkhof's Summary of Christian Doctrine) and LLS:SBJOTLBERKHOF (Berkhof's Subjects and Outlines). That particular BITS error corresponds to “Forbidden: Access is denied."
There is someone else struggling with this same problem with a different resource (BibSac journals) over on this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/13538.aspx (see page 2 of the thread for the place where they discovered this was the error message).
Forum MVP Dave Hooton seems to have been able to help that user figure out a workaround for the problem, so you might want to check in on that thread, read it over and see if his solution works for you too, or cross post a link to this thread over there so that Dave can see your problem and jump in to help you.
Also, are you by any chance connecting to the web via a proxy server? That might cause this error message in some cases.

I had another brainstorm after seeing someone else's post somewhere. Try temporarily disabling your firewall and see if you can gain access now.

Thanks so much Rosie.
I tried renaming update.db and it took a long time to review my status and connect to the server. However, the status 403 was still there.
I also disabled the firewall. Same result.
Looks like my downloads are going to a different spot than yours did - or half way thru my download I entered the land of the great unwashed. "No more downloads for you," said the download Nazi.

I'm sure the problem is at Logos' end. I think Rosie was only able to get them because she downloaded them into L3 and then Logos4 picked them up from there.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Yes, that fixed the problem of not having the resources in L4, but the "updates available" stays.
Every time you start up L4 again, it will try to download them again. Of course nothing comes through.
I do have the books, but it's still annoying to see "updates available" every time I start L4

Yup server side problem. Logos has acknowledged it:

We can close this thread and I'll watch the other one for a resolution.
Thanks!

I was certain it would help some users having the issue with Galaxie resources. But the best one can do if that workaround fails (because the resource is regarded as "missing") is to set Automatically Download Updates = NO in Program Settings and temporarily refuse any downloads (I've also put this suggestion in the Berkhof Collection thread).
