iPad Keyboard Shortcuts

Hi there,

What Keyboard shortcuts would you like to see us bring to iPad?

We're not looking for specific shortcuts (like "Command + T"), I'm more interested in the specific actions (like open a new tab) that you would love to see supported on iPad.

I know there are many of you who choose to your tablet for  much of your Logos Bible study, so help us understand how we can better support your keyboard needs.

    Search Bible

    Search Basic

A feature like F7 (Text Comparison) on the desktop would be great.

Tab to go to the index box

    Goto next pane

    Thanks for asking!

Also a copy Bible verse shortcut which would copy either the current verse or the selected verses to the clipboard.

A goto Library shortcut would also be welcomed.

Scroll up and down a screen at a time

Select a word or line for highlighting

My biggest wish would be to navigate in the window with keyboard commands, scroll up/down a verse, a window, etc.

It would great to be able to select a verse once the cursor is in the verse - and then open a guide (passage, exegetical, etc.) and/or copy that verse or range.

It would be helpful to be able to select and open a new window from a a guide - and then navigate to it and then back to the guide. (And close the window when you're done with it.)

I'll echo what others have said about opening a basic search, or bible search query from the keyboard.

For me the biggest thing would be to mirror the desktop keyboard shortcuts as much as possible.

    The priorities would be:

    • copy/paste
    • auto select (i.e. shift plus down or up to select multiple verses)
    • highlight short cuts
    • create a note/clipping
    • Jump to search or input field
    • switch between tiles
    • open preferred Bible
    • toggle text comparison

Basically, anytime I have to take my keys off the keyboard (when I have a physical keyboard) I’d rather have a keyboard shortcut.

    - Highlighting shortcuts (the ones we assign on the Desktop version) would be huge for me.

    - General shortcuts—copy, cut, paste, etc.

    - Page movement shortcuts—spacebar to page down, etc.

Thanks for letting us know that this is on your radar!

The one I'm missing most of all is definitely just being able to trigger a search! I find myself going for muscle memory regularly and then remembering that there aren't keyboard shortcuts yet on the iPad app, and then reminding myself to request them! I echo that it's good to see that it's something you're currently considering!

    Absolute musts

    • New tab / New Window
    • Close current window (return to whatever screen I was on previously, I would use this when I am cycling through resources on a passage guide where Cmd-W would then take me back to the guide. Or if I clicked a link from a book footnote, when I was done reading that reference, Cmd-W would take me back to the old book. Open a note full-screen and when done reading/writing, close it and go back to resource...etc)
    • Copy
    • Find
    • Play audio / pause audio on audio Bible/audiobook background playing
    • Open - CMD O to change resource

    Nice to have

    • Launch actions after I've selected text
      • Custom highlighting keystrokes (imported from Desktop app customization if possible. For example, I use the letter Y to highlight in yellow, B in blue, etc).
      • Launch word study on selected word
      • Launch passage guide on the verse(s) selected
      • Launch exegetical guide on verse(s) selected
      • Make a note on the verse selected
      • Make a note on the word(s) selected

    HI,

It is frustrating that I can't even use arrows keys to go to the next page while reading my iPad Pro 11 sitting on its Smart keyboard folio. Olivetree and Kindle can do that and I don't need to swipe the screen to go to next page.

When is Logos implementing keyboard input for Logos iOS?

    Thanks.

Where might I find a list of current iPad keyboard shortcuts for Logos?

    AND

Are there any updates? I'll take anything, a timeline for release...confirmed features...a true iPadOS app (as opposed to an upscaled iOS)...

I am unaware of any lists. FL, as a general rule, does not release time frames.

Totally agree with this! 100%. Basic things like this should be obvious.  I think we can do better.

I absolutely agree. Even basic programs like the kindle app has these features.
