Inconsistent Syncing on Desktop of Highlights made on Android Tablet

I'm wondering if there is a setting I have to make on my Android tablet,  or particular process I need to go through when finished with the tablet, in order for highlights made on the table to sync quickly and consistently on the desktop.

As it is now, highlights made on the tablet usually get synced on the desktop, but it can take f-o-r-e-v-e-r.  In fact it can be so slow, that it often feels like it just isn't going to happen.  And when highlights made on my tablet finally do start showing up on the desktop, there can be a delay of several minutes after one highlight finally shows up and when the next highlight shows up.

I have tried using the sync button on both the tablet and the desktop, but that hasn't done anything to speed things up.  I've also used the "SHIFT" key option when syncing on the desktop, but that hasn't helped.

On the tablet, I've tried all the following without any improvement in syncing.

  • Used the sync button with the resource still open.
  • Used the sync button after closing the resource and then opening it again.
  • Used the sync button after closing the resource in question but with other resource tabs still in play.
  • Used the sync button with just one resource open.
  • Used the sync button while on the "Home" page.
  • Used the sync button after going to the "Home" page and then coming back to the resource.

So far, no matter what I do, it can take so long for the first new highlight to show up on the desktop that it leaves me doubting if anything is happening, and there have been a few times when the syncing never did take place during the hour or more I was on the desktop.  Then when it does start syncing, as noted above, it's usually painfully slow with up to several minutes between when individual highlights appear.

Anything I can do to speed things up?

Rick,I can see a possible reason for the trouble you are experiencing, but I cannot be positive this is the cause.

I believe that you may not be up to date with Logos on all of your devices.

    Please try the following:

    1. On all Windows and Mac computers, go to Help/About Logos Bible Software and check if a software update is available.
    2. On all Mac computers, go to Logos/About Logos Bible Software and check if a software update is available.
    3. On all Android devices, go to the Play store and see if any updates are available for the Logos App.
    4. On all iOS devices, go to the App store, and see if any updates are available for the Logos App.

Thanks for confirming that you are up to date on all of your devices, Rick.

I want you to try an experiment.

When you are done working with resources in Logos on any device, close them.

When you are finished with your session in Logos on your computer, make a point of closing it, while you are still online.  You should see a little window appear that says "synchronizing".

When you are finished with your session with Logos on your Kindle Fire, make a point of closing the app.  Select the square icon in the bottom of the screen to show all open apps. Select the ‘X’ in the top right of the Logos app.

Try this for a few days, and let me know if it makes a difference.

Thanks, Joe.  On my computer, I always close Logos after each session--never leave it open.  I also update the layout and do a manual sync before closing Logos.  I'll try all the other things you suggested though and get back to you, though it may be a few days before I can do so.

Hi, Joe! I've been doing as you requested but am having random results.  There was a time or two when the highlights made on the Kindle immediately appeared on my laptop, but for the most part, while all highlighting eventually seems to make it from the Kindle to the laptop, both the rate/speed of the syncing AND the order in which the highlights actually appear on the laptop is unpredictable.  E.g. there will be gaps on the laptop where highlights made on the Kindle do not appear on the laptop, even though there are other highlights (both before and after the gaps) that do appear on the laptop.  So while all the highlights have made it to the laptop so far, they aren't getting applied on the laptop in the order they are made on the Kindle.

The one aspect of syncing that has always been immediate so far, is the location of the resource.  I.e., the resource opens on the laptop to the same location in the resource where I was when closing the Kindle session, but syncing of the highlights is random both in how fast AND the order in which the highlights are applied.
