Bug(?): In Search result panel click "graph" icon - Logos Freeze (beach ball)
How I recreate the Freeze
- Open ESV to Gen 1:1, Run a right button click search on the work Created, select Lamma in Hebrew to get the Search Results panel,
- In the Search Results panel, click the “graph” icons … it should freeze Logos,
- if it does not freeze go to select different graph charts (try a few) it crashed for my case.
- I have also tried restarting my MacBookPro 10.14.6 same beach ball problem. Only happened with this new update (Logos Bible Software 8.8 8.8.0.0039)
I am preparing a demo to 3 person introduced by a friend in 8 hours time, I set up this appointment 1.5 months ago. I supposed I will be embarrassed
Can someone else confirm it is a problem for all, or only for Mac ... thanks.

LimJK,
I followed your steps on a slightly newer MBP with the same Logos ver. – however, the software performed without freezing in my testing.
Hope you find a solution.

Does restarting Mac have an effect on Freeze ?

Unable to replicate using Logos 8.8 (8.8.0.0039) on macOS 10.14.6
Caveat: lesson learned from Camp Logos is having less items open for quicker response (when closing Logos to create a local layout for next time, personal quirk is closing search tabs since seldom need them again - ones to run again are added to Favorites)

Keep smiling and Anon,
Thanks for testing ... may I know did both of you tried Bar Chart and Column Chart ... thanks [:)].
- I restart my MacBookPro,
- I enabled Log Utility,
- Start Logos 8,
- Open ESV to Gen 1;1,
- Right mouse click to search Create (in Hebrew),
- from search Panel click graphics icon,
- Bar Chart appears,
- click on Column Chart, Freeze
... the following are my logs
- After it freezed ... I click sampling button ... which produced this
3718.LogosLogs.limjk.20191008-001355.zip
- After I hit Archive button ... which produced this
4478.LogosLogs.limjk.20191008-001528.zip
PS: I do not know how to read the log, appreciate if someone can tell me what I have done wrong. Before I completely remove Logos 8 and Re-install Logos 8 from scratch. I am trying to avoid such an exercise, as it is going to take a long time [:(]

Yes, I tried all charts one after the other on the word "Create". Also the same, on the words "form" and "void" in Gen. 1 – no freeze in using the graphs experienced.
I, like you, don't know how to read the logs either. Hopefully, someone who does know how to read them will inform you what the issue is.

Before removing Logos 8, recommend contacting Faithlife Technical Support since Logos 8.8 on macOS 10.14.6 is supported => https://www.logos.com/contact (and discuss this thread with them since Logos.log has a number of Web connection errors)
Note: Logos.log file does not have corruption messages about the Logos application bundle (so re-install likely not needed).
My favorite feature is visual filter highlighting so have many enabled in ESV (and have learned to let visual filter searches complete before trying to use ESV - activity monitor shows CPU busy doing searches). Note: all visual filter searches are executed when a resource is opened.
Performance improvement suggestion for library collection cache refreshing is changing rules that take a long time (rule appears in Logos.log file) to tagging. Personally copy a collection rule from thread => Collection rules for sorting commentaries (updated for Logos 8 Base Packages) for pasting into Library so can select all resources found followed by tagging them. Every tag is a collection. Caveat: when collection rules are updated OR resources added to my Library, need to repeat tagging process.

Some additional information, Tech support asked me if it is Crashed or Hanging?
I see “not responding” in activity monitor as well as Force Quit screen, so, I suppose this is "hanging" and not crashed[:)] I did not noticed any Sync error. I normally use ESV, however, I tried Lexham English Bible … I got the same problem
This shows Logos unsuccessful to show graph of search results … Logos (Not Responding) … In this state I hit the Sample Button and collect the log below:
0714.LogosLogs.limjk.20191009-095626.zip
After that I “Force Quit Logos that was not responding” to get the following Problem Report sent to Apple, and the Logos Log
5050.LogosLogs.limjk.20191009-100112.zip
At this point I tried to restart Logos, I get beach ball or Freeze again (ie Logos not responding) I have to force Quit and Restart my MacBookPro. Start Logos, Open LEB and repeat the same exercise and Logos Freeze (ie Logos not responding) and I have to Force Quit … the screen shot below
Hoping to get some advice as to how I can work around this. Before, I do the full uninstall and reinstall of Logos. Thanks.

Hi
I tried totally uninstalled Logos based on Wiki Uninstall instructions ... and took about 8 hours reinstalled, re-index Logos 8.8. The first time round when I started Logos and go through the same scenario it works [:)] However, after I quit the Graph Panel and click on the Graph icons on the search panel ... Logos becomes not responsive again[:(], with CPU activity about about 100%.
It appears that the Logos Log Utility is not capturing meaningful information in this scenario where it is NOT CRASHED and NOT HANG ... Considering that others do not have this issue ... Looks like my next option that I can work on is to reinstall my macOS and re-install Logos 8.8 another time round [:(]
PS: I have about 11,000-12,000 Resources and have over the years built up extensive:
- Prioritisation List
- Collections
- Also a long list of hidden Resources
(not sure I need to do extensive house cleaning for it to work with Logos 8.8). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
