Read Aloud - why isn't it multilingual when our resources are multilingual?
So many of our resources contain multiple languages by nature: English, Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic. Many also have languages used for theology: German, French, Italian, etc. Why doesn't Logos 8 recognize the language and use the right access while using Read Aloud? Thanks!

There are two kinds of ”read aloud.” The better, but less used, is an audio book read by a human author. The more common type is the computer generated one, which utilizes the operating system voice. It will be read in the language written using the spoken language of the computer. Obviously it works best when the written and spoken language are the same.

Maybe Scott wants the Logos software to choose a computer voice based on the language specified in the resource metadata, if a narrator for that language is installed, rather than having to choose a voice at the OS level, and that becomes the default voice in Logos This would be irrespective of resources that have a human-recorded narrator.
I would like that, also. For example, my Fire tablet will choose the default English voice or the default Spanish voice based on the Kindle book's language.

Logos does not control that function. FL gets it free from Apple & Microsoft.

Thanks. Yes, i know that, although I would use 'directly access' rather than 'control'; that's what my suggestion/wish (and I think Scott's) is about. There's no reason a program can't access, and choose from among, the installed voices directly except for Faithlife's reluctance for additional code. The Ivona Reader on my desktop has no problem with choosing from installed voices without the rigmarole of changing the default for the OS. My tacit assumption is the willingness of the user to obtain the desired compatible voices separately, rather than Faithlife providing a group of voices as a feature.
