Here is a video of trying to find passages or open them in Logos 8 after upgrading to Catalina.  Nothing is working.

The reason the search is failing is because you are searching the SURFACE text (or "bible text") for "deuteronomy 28." The surface text won't have that.

what do you mean Surface text??  I have not changed my methods since Logos 7 and it used to work in Logos 8.    It says  "enter a passage"  or phrase. And that is what I did/

Also I chose the option to search Deut 28 in ESV bible as well and same lack of results.

Are you trying to find occurrences of the phrase “Deuteronomy 28“ or navigate to it in a Bible?

The first won’t work as that phrase doesn’t appear in the actual biblical text.

if the second, try using the Lookup option in the command box as opposed to the search option

You are using the Command Box to execute a search for Deuteronomy 28 rather than going to the Bible passage Deuteronomy 28.

Scroll or arrow down to choose the Look Up - Go to Deuteronomy 28 in preferred Bible and choose that (see image below). If you do that about a dozen times Go to will become the top selection or default action, rather than defaulting to search.

The video you posted shows that you are doing a search for the exact string of "Deuteronomy 28." You aren't searching for a reference. You aren't looking up the passage. You are searching the Bible text itself for the exact words "Deuteronomy 28." That doesn't exist in the Bible. Consequently, you are getting no results.

I think, perhaps, you are expecting the box to function as the old "go" box.

thanks all. Yes I was expecting it to act like it did before. I have to unlearn this behavior. The idea of "enter passage" is COUNTER intuitive. A passage is a book and verse.

The OP's bug that entering a passage doesn't provide a good default suggestion (for studying that passage).

    • Fixed a bug that allowed Search to be the first suggestion in the Go Box.

This fix is shipping (with 8.9) today.
