Faithlife Free: Find and share completely free media for the church!

Summary
Need Public Domain / free media you can use at church?
Stock photography, slide backgrounds, video clips, document templates, etc.
Join the Faithlife Free group:
https://faithlife.com/faithlife-free
And then head to https://amberfile.com/ to browse the content and to contribute your own.
https://amberfile.com/?sort=rating will show you the media ranked by rating. (Add your own ratings!)
Background
We've been planning a variety of Church content-sharing sites for a long time. We have designs for some great user interface, nice organization tools, etc. But these projects often fall behind other initiatives.
So we're just going ahead with our internal digital asset manager. Join the Faithlife Free group and you'll be able to use the same tool we use internally to manage images, PDFs, Word and PowerPoint documents, audio and video files, etc.
Everything is Free
Everything in this 'Amber Vault' is either Public Domain, or licensed under the Faithlife Church Use License ("You may use this content in support of the Christian church. It may be used by churches, ministries, and other organizations serving the Christian church; it may not be used for secular commercial purposes.").
Together We Are the Creators and Editors
See an image without a useful description? Just type a new description. This photo needs tags? Add them. (The auto-completer will suggest terms from Logos' controlled vocabulary as well as Freebase, which contains almost every Wikipedia heading, to help standardize vocabulary.)
You can tag things with Bible references. Start typing a Bible reference in the 'Tags' field and then select the reference from the list of previously entered references, or under 'Logos Reference' in the drop-down. This will make the tag a Bible reference item, not just text, which allows smarter searching with range intersection.
It's also a good idea to tag with Logos Preaching Theme concepts when appropriate. They are labeled 'Preaching Theme' under the 'Logos' section of the tags drop-down.
Like an asset, and think it should be featured? Give it a star rating. (You can sort the view by rating, which represents the community's collective voting.)
Want to contribute? Use the New Asset button, or (with Google Chrome and some other browsers) just drag your assets over the window to upload them.
What Should I Upload?
Whatever you want that you're willing to give free to the Church at large: media, slide backgrounds, bulletin art, photos from your Israel trip, PDF documents of training material other churches might like, etc. (For now, though, please don't upload sermons here. We're working to improve sermon-specific support at SoundFaith.com.)
Did you make a cool slide for Easter? Mother's Day? A sermon series? You can upload it here.
We are also uploading Public Domain imagery and content from other sites, when we think it's useful for Church media. The advantage of re-uploading here is the Bible-specific tagging vocabulary; Unsplash has great photos, but here we can add tags directly specific to Bible passages, preaching themes, etc.
Can I Upload a .ZIP File?
If you want to share the source files for a finished asset, upload the finished rendering as a new asset, then double-click the asset thumbnail (or use the stacked lines icon that shows when you select it) and then drag your .ZIP file (or .PSD etc.) to the "Native File" section of the details page.
https://amberfile.com/assets/607377 is an example of a media pack -- the .ZIP file has source files, bulletin art, and multiple versions of the slide shown, all inside this Native File.
Explore
Amber doesn't have a lot of documentation yet, but feel free to explore. Blue links are links; tags and metadata that look like links run queries automatically. Try running a search, then using the faceted browser on the left. Don't be shy about adding tags, star ratings, and marking favorites! Change your view using the controls in the upper-right.
Want to use an image, but don't need something 3,000 pixels wide? Use Add new in the FORMATS section of the details page to have Amber create the version you need.
Remember that Amber also does full-text indexing of all the text (and EXIF information) in assets you upload. So if you drag in a PDF or Word document, it will be full-text indexable.
Changes are Tracked and Reversible
Amber is designed for live editing; all the changes are tracked (and associated with who made the change), and changes, including deletion, can be reversed. So don't be shy! Jump in and contribute -- you won't break anything!

After joining the FL Free group, I tried www.amberlife.com with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge (Windows 10) and searching for Easter and always got back "Sorry! We ran into a problem."

Peter and Mark, I think the problem might be that you tried www.amberLIFE.com. Try going to www.amberfile.com instead and see if that will work for you.

And for me:
I think it occurred because I'm also a member of another group. If you click on your name in the top right corner, you can choose which group you're interested in, and the error will go away.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

I am having beautiful success using Chrome and Edge so far.

Something is fishy...please if anyone can, confirm the following:
1. if you sign into Amberfile but not into Faithlife, you will get the error
2. If you sign into Faithlife and then Amberfile, there are 925 results, but none seem to be religion related (I assume this would change as we upload photos...

I think this project has plenty of potential as a valuable resource and will become what we make it by our contributions. I am looking forward to seeing how it develops. Happy snapping everyone [:)]
In the meantime (as Mark B said) check the drop down box next to your name at the top right hand corner. You may have the option to also select 'Logos User Photos'. At the moment this gives access to another 379 photos (thanks to everyone who has contributed those) [Y]
If the 'Logos User Photos' option is not available you may have to also join that Faithlife group here https://faithlife.com/logos-user-photos/activity

[EDIT: Odd---suddenly it is working like a charm again. Who can say---passing cosmic rays? Ignore everything below]
I have a very mixed bag of results, but this seems to work (and nothing else):
https://amberfile.com/assets/607377
Do whatever logon requirements are needed.
Trim back to https://amberfile.com/assets
And you might get something like below.

If you did the same as I you probably got those results. I bookmarked the page in Firefox the first time I went in. The problem with that is that is is the page https://amberfile.com/about and not https://amberfile.com If you search on the about page you get 0 results. I think the "about" page comes up the first time you enter.

Thanks, Bob, for providing it.
Thanks, Mark, for helping us to be able to use it.

Hey folks, there is currently a bug with the site the first time you sign on where it is not picking the Faithlife Free group by default. You can manually select this by clicking your name in the upper right and then clicking 'Faithlife Free' like Mark and Sue have shown. I am working on a fix to this problem. Thanks!

This has been fixed.

We are now adding more titles and tags, so assets will be easier to find, and we've uploaded a couple motion graphics and videos.
And we've started receiving some user uploads -- thanks!
Don't have any media to contribute? Browse around and apply star ratings. (If your tagging 'sidebar' isn't visible on the right, use the right-most 'gray rectangles' button to turn it on for tagging in the search view.)
This screencast is a short demo of uploading and tagging in Amber:

Really cool! I'm glad to see this and will be happy to contribute and utilize the contributions of others! I'm always looking for good sources of free-to-use media for church-related presentations and ministries. It can be tricky to navigate copyright issues (at least for me), so I am very pleased to see Faithlife opening up to us this handy sandbox.
One (small) issue. I logged in with my Faithlife account. However, it shows my full name in the upper right hand corner rather than my Faithlife username (i.e. "Average Joe"). For the picture I uploaded, to mark myself as the author, I typed in my username and my actual name popped up as the suggestion. I did notice that I could type in "Average Joe" and click "create new" so that it is listed as the author name, but it isn't the default. I tried typing in the anonymous usernames of some other users and their usernames popped up (rather than their actual names). So it is likely that I either have something typed in differently in my user profile, or else it simply shows up that way for me since I am logged in as me.
Just pointing it out for those of us who use anonymous usernames. I'm not sure it's really an issue or not, since I see that I can type in whatever I want for the author name.

Thanks to those of you starting to contribute media!
Tagging continues to improve; now we need your star ratings!
https://amberfile.com/?sort=rating
...lets you see the highest rated images. Disagree? Clicks the stars on the right (you may need open the properties pane in the search view by using the right-most icon).

Doesn't look fixed. Signed in, have no option to change groups, the site is empty, and clicking links in this thread all give 404 "This page is extinct." errors.

odd as it works for me. Does it show you as signed in at the upper right? Have you just clicked on the link in Bob's post above yours?

One question: Does the Faithlife Church Use License include or exclude the use of images in printed Christian magazines and newspapers (free and/or paid)?

You can use the images in Christian media.

VR media would be an excellent (and inexpensive) direction for this to go. The *.vr.jpg's can be copied/moved/shared like any other jpg file.

Does this still work. When I click on Bob's link, the vault is empty.
I am a member of the group and I am logged in correctly to FL.

I just tried it, and there's stuff in there. Certainly not much (only 374 images). Faithlife doesn't seem to be promoting it anymore, and it's only as useful as the number of images that users have uploaded there.

You have to join the Faithlife group Logos User Photos to see it. There are only 85 members, and it hasn't been active in 3 years. So it's not likely this is going to be a very useful repository of photos. But there at least are several hundred photos in there now that people uploaded a few years ago.

There is no option to join that group only to follow! 85 members and about 13 followers currently.

I was able to join that group but it still shows nothing for me whether I select faithlife free or users. Oh well

I just sent you an invite to join. I didn't remember having had to be invited to join it initially, but maybe that was the case.

I have signed up to follow the site, went to Amber site, and it lists several GBs of assets, but it doesn't show me any of them. I have clicked on my profile and still get nothing. I am following both the faithlife groups mentioned. What am I doing wrong?

Could you send me an invite too? I have a theory here that followers aren't able to see the photos but members are. I'm currently listed as a follower.
