Can someone from Logos respond about this?

I think there may be a programming error in the search templates. I've tried to get help before, and other people do not seem to have this problem. I am running Logos 8.9.0.0023 with all Logos 8 features. Platinum. My computer is an MSI with intel i7-7700HQ CPU @2.80 GHz 2.80 GHz. 16.0 gb  RAM

So far I've only found this error in the Hebrew templates, "Hebrew Word Translated as" and "Hebrew word not translated as."

First, either of these uses the same syntax. When I choose "Hebrew word not translated as" the box fills out, "Hebrew word translated as"

Second, no matter what Bible or Bibles I use, I get 0 (zero) results. This happens with all Bibles, interlinears, reverse interlinears. The same problem does not occur in the Greek settings.

I have all the datasets, but I think there is a bug somewhere in the programme.

Anyone else notice this?

    I can reproduce this

Second, no matter what Bible or Bibles I use, I get 0 (zero) results. This happens with all Bibles, interlinears, reverse interlinears. The same problem does not occur in the Greek settings.

    I don't see this.

Please post screenshots of the filled in search template and the actual search results

Logos prefers that you have a title line with the word BUG and a description of the problem. I get an unlikely search argument of "<Lemma = wivu/he/ישׁב> INTERSECTS live" which I am suspicious is incorrect in the parameter of wivu. So I suspect your analysis of a bug is accurate.

Thank you for offering to help. I am adding four screenshots. The first is for שוב translated as "return," then the results. The third shows the same Hebrew term NOT translated as "return," then the results. As you can see, the error shows up in both attempts. I can try this in either "Bible" or "Morph" tabs and get the same error.

I should note that I have closed all Logos tabs except this search tab.

What Bibles are included in your "Top Bibles"? In other words, what are your five highest prioritised Bibles?

What happens if you try the search specifically in the ESV?

I tried with the ESV only--same results. Again, both in Morph and Bible tabs.

Interestingly, the template "Hebrew Root Word" does work, but only in the ESV (which may be as it is intended).

If I use the "analysis" view, I can manipulate the results to find what I need, but it is very slow and not as easy as just finding a "translated as" or "not translated as"

Thanks for the report. This is definitely a bug. The "lls" lemma analysis is only used in original language Bibles, so there will never be any hits that intersect English words. If you replace "lls" with "lbs", you should start seeing results.

I'll get a case written up for this.

I'll also write up a case for both searches using the same syntax.

Sorry but I've just spotted the problem.

The searches you show have "lls" as the morphology which is being used. This relates to Gramcord which isn't used in many resources.

Try changing it to "lbs" and you should find the search works.

And then we are left with the question as to why the search templates are choosing "lls" as opposed to "lbs"!

Edit: Once again Andrew is ahead of me!

Thank you. So which Hebrew Bible ought I to prioritize in order to make this work? Right now, it seems that if I type in a Hebrew lemma, only Lexham Hebrew Bible works. I was usually using BHS 4.2.

That won't solve the problem. For now you have to change the actual generated search syntax from lls to lbs.

  • Right now, it seems that if I type in a Hebrew lemma, only Lexham Hebrew Bible works. I was usually using BHS 4.2.

Forum threads => Westminster Morphology 4.18 and BHS and BHW may provide incentive to use a newer Hebrew Bible morphology than BHS 4.2

Old Testament Reverse Interlinears (by Faithlife) use the same Logos Hebrew Morphology & Logos Aramaic Morphology as the Lexham Hebrew Bible (LHB). Also LHB has been enhanced for Clause Search.
