Need Hebrew dictionary recommendation

I use the Hebrew Lexicons constantly, but once in a while I need to look up a word in English in terms of how it is translated into Hebrew. I know that there are several excellent tools in Logos, but I am looking for what might be the best dictionary in this category, where I might start with a word in English and search for the possible translations into Hebrew. I have some hard copy books that do this but what is the best electronic resource(s) in this category. Thanks!

George, though I am not sure if this is what you’re looking for, personally I really like the NIDOTTE volumes linked below:
They’re highly exhaustive, following the initial usage of any given term in the literature and following it through to biblical usages. A bit pricey, but well worth the investment IMO.
Apologies if this isn’t what you’re after 😊.

Puddin, this is exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks to you. Gregorio

For anyone else, I keep this volume in my main layout (wanting the choices):

Lookup is by english, and it covers both hebrew and greek for quick comparison. Cheap too.

Denise, this looks very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I almost purchased this Strong’s also, but it sadly turns out that it is transliterated I wonder if this resource exists as a non-transliterated version. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep. Its target customer was presumed to be knowledgable, but not expert. An average pastor.
Strongs offers another for both hebrew and greek, that DOES show OL but the type in box is also OL (and transliterated). That'd be for the pastor fresh from seminary.
On the greek side, there's Bullinger's that accepts lookups in english and OL (greek). But I don't know of a similar in hebrew. The hebrew pocket guide is grammatical terms; not hebrew.

Yes, I found that second one and got quite excited until I noticed one could not search in English. And for Hebrew I have about ten lexicons already. So I will be using the New International Dictionary recommended above. It is quite good in terms of the words it does offer, even though it does not seem to offer all words. Still, it will work for my purposes. I’m most grateful to you for your kindness.

Thanks for all the excellent recommendations. I found the perfect reference, It is Volume IX of The Dictionary of Classical Hebrew. I have just tested it as the other references provided a lot of information about some words, but the Classical Hebrew reference is the most complete, and has links to the rest of the volumes if I want to dig deeper into any particular word. I highly recommend it.

I guess? I downloaded DCH IX to my ipad. Best I can see, there's no english lookup?

Denise, that is odd. Are you sure you downloaded IX rather than the first 8 volumes? I just tested it with my iPad and iPhone and it works fantastic. For instance, in the search bar I looked for "horse" and it immediately delivered horse, horseman, horses-chariot, horses-swift, with corresponding Hebrew words (that is what most interests me) and links to the articles in Volumes I through VIII. In the case of HORSE, we have סוס, and פרשׁ, with references to 6.130 and 6.787 respectively. Denise, you do not see that? I also downloaded the references to make sure it works fast enough, and the Internet does not play tricks.

And then I just switched to my PC to re-test it there. The last search I did was on the word BEND, as in every knee shall bend and every tongue confess, and my PC opened it to the exact same place I had on my iPhone and gave the following, which I now cut and pasted:
bend
גהר, 2.328
כאף pi., hi., 4.349
כפף, 4.455
כפשׁ, 4.458
נחת I pi., 5.670
נטה, 5.673
עוה II, 6.295
עות I pi., 6.319
צעה, 7.139
שׁוב I hi., 8.297
שׁכך, 8.352So, cool, it even includes the various stem forms. I am thrilled. Can you get it to work on the PC?

Ok, Gregorio, mine works now. Sorry! False alarm.
I'm glad you met success!

Link? I could not locate this resource in Logos.
That sounds like something I would really like👍.
