Concordance Root Search question and export limitation
What I want to do:
Create a list of all the Greek roots in Mark, organized by root with display of related words.
What I did:
- I used the Concordance tool and searched for all the roots in Mark.
- Organize by heading
- Click on Group results by lemma
>> Yes... almost. This is the kind of list I want. I can expand any root and see related words.
E.g., αγγελος shows me the related words: αγγελος, απαγγελλω, εξαγγελλω, παραγγελλω. I'm wondering, though, why it doesn't show επαγγελλομαι (which appears separately under επαγγελια) or ευαγγελιον (which has its own entry).
I'm guessing that's a matter of how the text is tagged in relation to roots. I can probably work around that.
The other issue I can't figure out, however, is how to export the information. When I choose Print/Export, I'm given the option to export to Excel (which is what I want), but the export only gives the head root and the count. I.e., it only exports αγγελος but none of the words grouped under that root.
So I especially would appreciate any guidance on exporting the roots organized by head root with words connected to that root. Thanks!

Unfortunately this appears to be a limitation in the Print / Export feature of the Concordance tool.
You could use the search tool in Analysis mode to generate a list of roots and corresponding words for the Gospel of Mark.
To do this you would use a wildcard * to return all verses in Mark.
The then insure the Root column is selected and deselect any columns you don't want to see.
Drag the Root heading above the column headings to sort by root. You can then export the results to an excel sheet.
Logos does not like wildcard searches, so it will take a while to generate results using this method.

Could someone please explain to me how to generate a pivot table like the one shown above once you have the exported data in excel? I've tried to generate a pivot table but I keep getting the error message "Data source reference is not valid."

Ok, the error message was because the file name had a * in it. I think I've figured out how to make it work.
