Recurring notes tool troubles
I've been experiencing continuous notes tool troubles. Sometimes my notes go blank and I have to close and reopen notes. Sometimes notes are slow as though my computer does not have the resources to run the tool. Sometimes the notes tool changes fonts. Other times the notes tool freezes up. Just today, when I moved my laptop to my desk and plugged it into an external display, I experienced a distortion in the size and resolution of notes. In addition to the change in size/resolution, the notes tool froze so I had to close and then reopen. Keep in mind, all other Logos tools are functioning perfectly.
I spoke to Logos support. In the end I was told I had too many resources open. But it is only the notes tool that is failing. Everything else works fine. Will there be any changes to notes soon to make it more stable?
Still thankful for Logos,
Joe

Joe, I am not experiencing the kinds of problems you describe. If Tech support told you that you have too many resources open, that may be an indication that you are over tasking your system. What are your system specs?
If you enable logging (see the link in my signature line), reproduce the problems, then upload logs, that may help in identifying the issue.

I don't think there are answers. When I get the time, I will reinstall Logos. Hopefully a fresh install will clear things up.
Thank you for the reply, Fred.

I will reinstall Logos.
If you intend to replace the app, it will likely not make any difference. Replacing the app and all associated files is an extreme measure.
Too many resources open seems a stretch, as I usually have a tremendous number open, yet I have not experienced these problems. My system is a bit more robust than yours, and I have an SSD for storage.
Before replacing everything Logos, try quit Logos, move the Notes Tool Manager to the desktop and restarting Logos. To get the path shown in the screenshot, hold down then Option key and select Library on the Go menu. Then, Application Support and Logos 4.

Thank you for your response, Jack. So you don't think I have a corrupted notes file or something like that? I find this so strange - everything on my system works great including every other Logos tool except notes.
And my storage is SSD as well so I should not be experiencing slowness characteristic of conventional hard drives.
Just a couple questions before I move the notes tool to the desktop: Why do you think that will help the function of notes? Will I have to keep the files on my desktop indefinitely?
Thank you,
Joe

Why do you think that will help the function of notes?
When you move the Notes Tool Manager to the desktop and restart Logos, the app will rebuild the file. If the original was corrupted, the new file should be free of the corruption.
Will I have to keep the files on my desktop indefinitely?
If everything then works as it should, you can trash the Notes Tool Manager that you placed on the desktop.
If this does not fix the problem, I will get one of the MVPs who are much better troubleshooters than I to enter the discussion.
We MVPs are fellow Logos volunteers who have been fortunate enough to give good advice in the past, but even Dave, KS4J, and JT are not omniscient—although Dave comes pretty close. [:P].

I moved NotesToolManager to my desktop and allowed Logos to rebuild the notes file. I'll tell you how it goes. Thank you!

I believe it worked! Notes are running as smooth as silk. No sudden font changes, freezes, resolution changes, sluggishness, phantom spaces between lines...
Thank you!!

Thank you!!
Very pleased that it worked. Always glad to assist—or to call for help from someone more informed as to how this app works.

I too have been having constant problems with notes freezing up as have many other folks too and I was wondering if the cause of this has been fixed yet or is being worked on? Sometime when it freezes the Logos problem will close and I have to reopen it.

You will get more attention to your problem if you create a new thread, describe your issues, and post logs.
