Reinstall of app on Android causes it to redownload the complete library items I previously had down

I only have 32 gig of space on my mobile device.

Previously I downloaded about 11 gig from my Logos library to my Android tablet.

Some time later I ran out of space and since logos does not support using external SD card for the resources I decided to uninstall Logos from my tablet, then reinstall. I rebooted in between.

Just now, I downloaded 1 resource only.  All of the previous resources seem to be downloading again.

I seem to remember this happening in the past. It seems Logos is remembering which resources I previously had selected to download.  At this rate I will run out of space and waste a ton of bandwidth over here in the 3rd world. Is there a way to manage this so the app will not "remember" what was previously downloaded? I'd like a clean slate if possible.  Also a way to interrupt what it's trying to do now would be good. I turned off the tablet for now so it would stop downloading.

Thanks in advance.

Since you have already removed the app and you want to stop the downloads (resources can be removed from within the app), you’ll need to open your library in the desktop software and choose Devices from the library filter field on the left. From there, click on your device and all the resources downloaded to it will be in the main window. With the information button toggled on, highlight each resource (don’t click on the title) and on the downloaded tab choose Remove from Device as shown. That should stop the downloads for you. PS - You should be able to do a mass Remove by highlighting all the resources if you have many and choosing Remove from Device.

    Thanks Scott,

Your approach worked, but others beware for me it had the side effect of also wiping out the 1399 resources which I selected on my android device and removed "from this device".  Now all those resources have been removed from my PC as well! :( This means they all must be re-downloaded to the PC now  (where I keep my full library), what I was trying to avoid doing in the first place with the tab :(  Additionally, they still show up as "on the device" when I use the display method you described (see screen shot).  Even after starting the app and exiting gracefully a few times and doing the same with the pc version as well as hitting the "sync" button.  I am grateful for your solution Scott, I wasn't even aware that filter existed on the PC side, thanks.

    Jeremiah,

I’m so sorry! I gave you the wrong information which is why the resources were removed from your library. [:$]

Further down on the right side of the library panel is the area you want to be at to remove the resources from the device. All you need to do is highlight the items and uncheck the box for the correct device as shown.

Again, my apologies! I promise to pay more attention to any instructions I may offer in the future.

Hey thanks Scott, that's a really useful thing to know!

One thing though guys, this looks great for adding resources but I'm still not having lock STOPPING the previous ones from downloading.

I even clicked the "manage mobile devices" link under the box you highlighted, I deleted my device, reinstalled Logos on that android device, the moment, sync etc. My PC version still shows the thousand + resources as on that device and sure enough, the moment I download just 1 thing, the rain starts and it starts downloading a ton of stuff.  I have to cut the internet, and uninstall Logos mobile again.

I tried renaming the device through the "manage devices" link.

I tried Selecting all the items on that device from the screen you showed me on Logos on my PC then deselecting that device from the massive list.

So far no dice. Any ideas anyone? I mean other than one-at-timing trying to tell each item to uninstall from on the device itself?

I really thought deleting the device from the list of "my devices" would help refresh.  I'm starting to wonder if I need to root the device so I can change it's ID to trick whatever database / properties file is hanging on to it over on the Logos server?

As long as your PC still shows the 1k+ resources as being on that device, they will continue to redownload to it. Period.

What you need to do is to follow Scott's instructions from his second post for all of those 1k resources. If you do this correctly, they will no longer show on your computer as being on your mobile device and they will not redownload to your mobile device.

    THanks,

maybe I wasn't clear. I *did* follow Scott's advice last night (my time).  For many hours after the PC version kept displaying all of those items as on my Android device and anytime I uninstalled, reinstalled, it kept trying to install them (yes I had deselected that device for all resources in the manner which Scott had demonstrated).  His answer is correct, as it turns out this morning the server finally caught up with the changes. SO it just seems in some instances to take several hours before the operation is effected; in my case, my device now does not show up in the devices any  more listed on my PC despite the fact that I manually installed 113 resources today.  Yep, I've synched, restarted, etc. So there is definitely something buggy happening.  Perhaps the way Logos is caching this kind of operation server side relating to whatever database they use to track these things.

Anyway, thanks to both of you for chiming in and helping. I learned some things; one of them which is "if it seems what you did to your mobile device should have happened already, just wait several hours, go to bed, and in the morning the server will catch up... partially".

    *** update ***

While my android device is listed under https://www.logos.com/account/devices

it STILL does not show up in Logos on my PC version under the devices per screen shot sent by Scott (it previously did) so as of now I can't use his method to add items to my device, it needs to be done manually on the device instead. I hope it will eventually show up again.
