Scroll Bars SR-2
The scroll bars are terrible almost invisible is there a way to adjust there color?

Whyndell,
no...there is no way inside logos...BUT...you CAN help by doing the following:
On your video card adjustments, bring the "gamma" all of the way down or close to it...
Bring the brightness down...
Turn the contrast up....
Here is how mine has to be set..
that helps, but I agree with you....Logos is the only app that seems to be in a different "contrast range" than all others....it's annoying....

They disappear until you hover over them. I'm not sure why. (It doesn't appear to be to make more room for content, since the content still needs to wrap and leave enough space for the scroll bars to show up when you hover over them.) I don't particularly them this way, so I'd agree with you, Whyndell, and request that they stay visible all the time.

Personally, I like the scroll bars, when you have a lot of panes open they don't distract from the text. In Libronix a complex workspace was dominated by lots of scroll bars. They are unobtrusive, my vote is to keep them that way (or at least have a setting so I can keep them that way if Logos tries to change them).

My piont is when u want them sometimes it is very difficult to find them- they need to darken the scroll bar as to distinguish it from the background.

i'd have to say I kind of like the invisibility of them, makes the interface look cleaner. And even in the screenshot you shoe, the scroll bar on your left pane is way more visible than the others . . . it is clearly selected where the others are not.
I like Apples. Especially Honeycrisp.

I'm not sure what Whydell means....but when i say I can't see the scroll bar, what I'm talking about is the part you drag...the handle..I don't care if the other part disappears...but I can't find the part to drag!
The Mac Alpha 9 has it all over us in this regard....

Precisely- sometimes I cannot find the bar- its very difficult, even when I mouse over. I do think a color change is in order darken the bar- the little "slide" button" when you are using say your bible, its very small and hard to distinguish- see the left side of my screen that i provided- its with a mouse over- imagine how light it was - see the books in the right side can you see the "slide button"= probably not.

I did change my look from Aero back to Vista Basic- and the scroll bars/ buttons do look more visible- think I'll leave it on basic for now.

Whyndell...
Are you running Vista?

This seems to be in line with Bob's goal of moving the software in the background, the text into the foreground.

Yes, I'm all for having the "software" (all the complicated tools and such) in the background and the text in the foreground -- but the basic way of navigating through the text should not be so difficult to see.

So.... you'd be +1, too? [;)]

I like the way it is, I can see it well when I need it. When I just read, I don't need to see them. I use Vista and Win7. I like software to be not too pushy (or how you say it in English). Logos 4 is great in that matter IMHO.

I would also like to see the scroll bars all the time. Not only for the reasons cited but because it's yet another feature that slows Logos4 down, especially when accessing it using a remote desktop client.

This had been requested early on and some improvement was made. I will submit these new requests, though, referencing the Mac version.
Thanks,

For my 2c worth I really like the current design. Though I agree that the scrollbar "handle" (that is, the part you grab to scroll) could be darker (but only when hovering the mouse over the scrollbar). That is, while the scrollbars are not needed it is really neat to have them "fade into the background".

Robert,
The advice you give about changing video card settings is quite correct... but what havoc does it create in all the other programs on the computer which previously had good-looking screens?

I does wreak havoc. I have two "hotkeys" one for "all the other stuff" and one for "Logos4"
It's a pain....I've complained over and over that their should be at least an option to change the color and intensity of the interface...

I personally find no value in the harsh marks (not sure what to call them) in the scroll bar area either, they just create a visual distraction for me. I don't see them in the Mac alpha screen print. Just seem to clutter the whole thing up - sure would like to be able to turn them off. :-)
EDIT: For clarity sake I do like that the scroll bar fades when not active. Would just like the button itself darkened and the ability to turn off the harsh marks.

You an turn off the hash marks (called visuals cues) by going to program settings.

Actually, Kevin, the Visual Cues are the orange circles that go off to alert you where you are in the book when you have a navigation jump. The "hash marks" in the scroll bar area are controlled by these two settings.

Thanks so much!! I feel kind of foolish that I didn't check into this sooner. [:$]

From one Kevin to another, I thank you. Only a Kevin would be smart enough to catch a Kevin's error.
I forgot which one it was so I tested the one I said it was and looked at the book I had open and there were no marks. But that's because I hadn't used the book much and so there were just no marks at all in it. Duh!

The narrow scroll bars and the hard to discern grab bars coupled with the confusing hash marks is more a problem for me on my netbook. Otherwise 4 works great on my netbook.
