"Example Uses" question

The mobile version of Logos 8, shows "Example Uses" in the Bible Word Study tab.

The PC version does not.

Is there some resource you have to download to make it work on the PC?

Welcome to the forums. Are you certain it is requested? See under Add in the header line.

    Greetings. Thanks for your reply.

I clicked "Example Uses", and it inserted it again, but it's still unpopulated.

What version are you running on the PC? With what level of features? It looks like you not selected a source. Click where my arrow points and set the range/source of the data.

Does a greyed out section in the guide correspond to a locked feature?

Doesn't explain why the feature would work on mobile, but be unavailable on the desktop. (Are you using the same account for both platforms?)

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

After selecting the whole Bible, it populates zero results. The mobile app populates it.

Greetings. Yes, I'm using the same account for both mobile and PC. "A Concise Dictionary of the Words in the Greek Testament and The Hebrew Bible" is also available for free, on mobile, but it is not included with the PC version, and costs around $12.

After selecting the whole Bible, it populates zero results.

If that section was run but had zero results, it should say "NO RESULTS" after the section title.

It seems like it's not being run at all.

If you click on Learn more, does it open a page on the store for a feature (set)?

Clicking on "Learn more" opens Logos help, with the above explanation. I wonder what resource is lacking.

Hovering over the Example Uses title, caused a message to appear:"This section is currently unavailable":

It isn't a resource that is missing. You do not own the feature set that contains Example Uses, I believe. That's why we need to know the version and feature set you are running. It is in about under Help

I believe this section depends on the Andersen-Forbes Hebrew Grammatical Relationships dataset, which has been around since Logos 4, I think.

Lee's About screen shows Logos 8 Basic, but we don't know yet what older feature set Lee might have owned before that.

Lee, did you ever purchase any L4-7 full feature set or crossgrade that should have given you access to that feature? What Logos version were you running before installing Logos 8 Basic?

(If Logos 8 Basic is your first version of Logos, that version of Logos does not come with many features that are required to populate every guide section, which would explain why many of your guide sections are greyed out. It's still a mystery though why the mobile app has access to the Example Uses section, but the desktop doesn't.)

Thanks for the information. Yes, I think that's the case. Logos 8 Basic is my first installation of the program. I have not owned any previous feature sets before that (may have tried version 7 at some time). It must be that for the windows version, you have to upgrade to a feature set which includes the resources for the "Example uses". It's odd that they include it for free on the mobile version for Logos 8, but not the windows version. It would also be nice if, when you attempt to utilize a resource for which you don't already have the proper data-set, it popped up a notification for this, with a link to the data-set you need. Sometimes that does happen, but not always. Thanks for taking the time to figure this out.

Yes. This is correct. Thanks for taking the time to figure this out.

Here's the article showing my version and feature-set:

It's odd that they include it for free on the mobile version for Logos 8, but not the windows version.

They also include (for free) a number of books in mobile apps that one must purchase in order to use in the desktop version (whether Windows or Mac). This is so that new users of the mobile apps who have yet to buy anything can still do some potentially useful things in the apps and see if they want to buy more resources and features.

It must be that for the windows version, you have to upgrade to a feature set which includes the resources for the "Example uses".

Technically it's not a resource -- a book -- you're missing for that section to return results. It's a dataset. While some feature sets do incidentally include resources, it's a specific dataset that makes this particular feature work.

FL just had a 20%/25% off base package (library + feature set) deal in December. You could give Sales a call and see if they can work out some special pricing.

Alternately, look into Faithlife Connect, which is a way to subscribe to books and features for a low monthly/yearly cost. It would unlock every feature of Logos 8 for the length of your subscription, and comes with other benefits you might find useful.

Interesting. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check out the subscription options
