Flash Drive for resource backup?

I have the Logos 4b Leaders Library, and I have heard of others backing up their resources using an external hard drive. And I just wanted to know if instead of an external hard drive could someone use a higher capacity Flash Drive. Leaders Library was something over 4 gig and I was thinking of using an 8 gig Flash drive only for Logos resources.

Please be honest if this is silly I don't want to try something that won't work. I just want to find something that might work without spending a lot.

Wesley, as far as I know, there's no reason you couldn't use a flash drive for this, as this is a Windows OS function (not a Logos one).

But I'm not sure why you'd want to do this, unless data caps are an issue for you, or you want to try one of the non-supported install methods found in the Wiki.

For most users who don't have data caps, so many resources are being updated so often, that whatever is backed up now, will be outdated in a few months anyway. Further, sometimes the updated resources correspond to a program update so that the old one may not work properly on the updated program. Finally, since the updated resource is always available via the internet anyway, why even bother.The Logos server is my 'backup' plan.

While I regularly backed up my L3 resources, I no longer do for my L4 ones. There just doesn't seem to be a good reason to do so any more. And while I'm sure that this would not satisfy some, it satisfy my needs.

Any backup that works for you is a good backup.

Contra to Richard, I back up everything.

My system constantly mirrors My documents to an internet server.
Every evening my system writes a file for file backup/compare to a NAS in my home.
That NAS backup is in process now of being archived and mirrored to a remote NAS at a friends house.
Every week my system DRIVE is backed up to a nas.

My system of belief on this is extreme for some. But never fail to backup what you think you might want to backup.

The main cause for backing up is to have my resources in reach in case i am at home and something breaks down. Unless I am at the office at church I only have dial-up internet connection and you brothers know that is slow! When I am at the office I have intermittent wireless connection which is thanks to a former member of mine who lives next door to the church.

So if I have a big download I'm in serious trouble. [:(]

Go for a 16 GB flash drive as 8 GB will quickly become too small, and backup the whole Logos4 folder as I do (the manufacturer's 16 GB is actually 14.8 GB on your computer!).

Thanks! A 16 GB it will be! Who knows, by next year 32 GB may be a small at flash drive! [:)]
