Downloading Books

I recently purchased a collection of books. When the e-mail arrived telling me to download, there are no instructions except the unlock code. When I download a book it tells me that their is no programme associated with this download and I can go no further. How do I proceed. Thank You

Logos3 and 4 can coexist on the same computer. You can use both, even at the same time.

The process of getting new books should be automated. Open Logos 4, does it start to download your new purchase? If not then type "Update Now" (without quotes) into the command bar and hit enter. Does the Blue Logos icon appear in your system tray indicating the download? (If running Win7 be sure to check all the hidden icons)

If not then go to your Account history on Logos.com and find this order. On that page there should be an orange "Unlock and download" button. Click it and it should run Libronix Update and give you directions on getting the book in Logos 3. After downloaded, sync your licenses (Tools>Account Management>Synchronize licenses) then go back to Logos 4 and try the Update Now command again.

Well this is amazing. I didn't do antyhing and all the books are now available in Logos 4. I didn't download or unlock but as you say it is automated. i have only had Logos 4 a short while so am still trying to find my way around. I discover something new and exciting all the time.

I have a similar situation. I am using Logos 3 and downloaded 2 available pre-published books. I downloaded them and found them in my resource folder but my library does not recognize them being present - any suggestions on getting them recognized.

I too have closed and restarted L4 several times and the download did not occur automatically, after purchasing the recent LEB through the cart (at $0). It did pickup an update or two, and indexed a few times, though. I even downloaded it and put it in the resources folder and restarted a few times, but it is still not recognised. I've had this problem before a few times, and had to use L3 to install some resources, as L4 doesn't so what it says (just turn close and open again and it will automatically download). It's getting to be a pain with closing and restarting so many times, which takes quite some time, with no effect. Is there anything that can be done to make L4 work as it should? Or to get this one recognised by L4?

If, following an online purchase, you received an email confirming your purchase, then that usually has an attached Logos Update Script which you should open and run. The Script scans your computer resource files, and then displays your download options, including the licence as a non-optional default as well as the resource files.

If you didn't receive an email but purchased by phone, then run Logos 3 and go to Tools|Library Management|Synchronise Licences. Click Next >> in the dialog box to initiate synchronisation. When that is completed restart Logos 3.

It was an auto download based upon what Logos had in your account previously synchronized. When you register with Logos and you sign on in Logos4 using the same account, it knows which books are yours and starts downloading them (even after you exit the program). Then, the next time you are in... you see all your books.

The email I got with the LEB doesn't have a script. It simply redirects via a link to the order for the resource on my Logos account. This simply states "Please close Logos 4 and reopen it to start downloading your new
products. No further unlocking or downloading is necessary." But this doesn't work.

Synchronisation doesn't help either as it states that all items are up to date. Even after having downloaded the file and put it in the L4 resources folder.

If anyone has figured out a way to solve this problem, which is not a one-off, I'd appreciate knowing what the solution is, other than using L3.

This is something you don't want to do - ever. L4 needs to load its own resources whether thru a download or a scan of L3 directories. How long did you wait between the purchase and the attempt to download? I usually find that patience resolves the problem,

MJ, it turns out that I already had it, among many other resources, but didn't realise it. It therefore didn't appear as an untagged new resource, as I had already tagged it, but never used it!

It did an update during the last few days, and it must have downloaded the latest version of it. But as usual, I had no way of knowing what was downloaded.

In general, it would be good to know or have control as to what is going on in the program - with at least a report of what has been downloaded or updated, etc. or what is ready to download if I have a choice as to when it happens (apart from not being able to choose to synchronise my licences etc. without all my activity being uploaded to Logos every minute also).

Sylvia,

Logos is the software program that you need in order to access the book that you just purchased. You can get the engine as a free download, however, the free download does not contain all of the features that make Logos 4 shine such as our databases, new media resources and reverse interlinears. If you do want to download the engine, click here if you are running a Windows machine and here if you are running a Mac, then follow the steps that appear on your screen for how to install the software. After the Logos 4 engine has been installed, it will ask you to enter your email address and password. These are the same codes that you used to log on to our website with when you purchased the book. After that is complete, Logos 4 will start to download the book you purchased.

Are you using Logos 4? If so, you don't need to use the download button. Logos 4 will check your licenses and download to the correct location. The download button place the resource in the correct location for Libronix (Logos 3).
