Multiple Note Indicators for a Single Note

Hi all,

I just made a note on Rom 1.18-23. As you can see in the UBS text, the note is shown correctly with one indicator before vv18 (the indicator in vv 21 is a different annotation). I am wondering why the ESV shows so many note indicators all tagged to the same note. Is there a setting that I need to change or is this a bug? TIA

It appears that you have some other notes and highlighting styles associated with that passage. Check your corresponding notes and highlights in the Visual Filter drop down to determine what those might be. You can also click on the note indicators to open the associated note.

Thanks for the response, Fred. I do have some other notes and annotations on that passage, but I am more specifically wondering why there are 7 note indicators all pointing to the same note. The note correctly appears in my UBS5 (the note was created in this resource) & NA28 only 1x (where it should be before v18), but 4x in my NRSV, 5x in my CSB, 3x in my NASB, 4x in my NIV, and so on. I am thinking that this is some sort of bug with the "Corresponding" notes and highlights feature as I am seeing other note indicators also being multiplied in resources where they were not created but are active because of the "corresponding" feature.

We need a screenshot of the note itself with anchors displayed in order to give you an answer but my guess is that a look at the interlinear would show disconnects between the Greek and English at these points and that the note is not by reference. Note that is a guess and not the only possibility.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Here is the note, the only anchor is Rom 1.18-23, created in the UBS5

Okay - the note is by selection rather than by reference so you will see breaks and new note icons when the Greek and English fail to match up. Turning on the interlinear should make this apparent. My Logos just crashed so I can't take a screen shot.

Oh, wow, that possibility was not even on my radar. That's great to know for future reference, though. Thanks, M.J., I appreciate the help!

That's great to know for future reference,

Also for future reference: You can get this same multiple icon result when you highlight in one English translation and see the result in another. The corresponding notes link works through the Reverse Interlinears attached to the different translations.

Hope that makes sense. If not, I will try for a clearer presentation.

The corresponding notes link works through the Reverse Interlinears attached to the different translations.

Gotcha! Thank you for explaining it this way--I did not realize that is what M.J. meant by the above reference to the interlinears. This as the mechanism for the corresponding highlights makes this 'issue' much more clear. Thanks again.
