Anyone using the web app on a Google Chrome book?
My MBA is around 9 years old and showing it's age. It is not my primary work machine, I use it for Word (notes in class) and light edits in sermons Saturday night.
I am thinking of getting a Chromebook to replace it. Any words of wisdom? What should I make sure it has? Let me know. Thanks!

I'd choose a used Mac or PC (running Linux) over a Chromebook. It's so restricted.

I have a 2017 Pixelbook. I am running the Logos desktop app in a Linux container and also use the web app. The web app works perfectly fine on my Pixelbook. It is faster than Logos running in the Linux container.
I wouldn't recommend a Chromebook to run the Logos desktop app in a Linux container currently unless you are willing to invest time to make it work. But, to your question, running the web app works great if you can deal with (1) always needing to have an Internet connection to use it and (2) the limitations of the web app vs. the full desktop app.
Then you'll need to decide if the limitations of ChromeOS that John alludes to are acceptable to you. If you work in the Google ecosystem, it may work really well for you.

I'd choose a used Mac
After looking around I may pursue this option. I can't complain my MBA has lasted since 2011. Thats the thing with Apple, the cost of ownership is low.

I use the Web App on a chromebook (usually a Samsung Pro) and it works great for about 80% of what I want to do. If I want to read something offline, I download the resource to the chromebook through the Mobile App (Samsung Pro runs Android Apps well) and read it on the chromebook.
For specific jobs that the Web App is unable to perform, I have the desktop application loaded into a Mac at Church, then I remote in to the Mac with TeamViewer from my Chromebook. That works very well. Thankfully, I have access to the Mac. Logos is the only thing that pulls me away from Chromebook. Everything else I do is through Chrome OS.

If the web app is sufficient for your needs, then a Chromebook is a great option. If you can afford it, get a high-end machine which can cost $500. A used Pixelbook is a great option. The new Pixelbook Go is more expensive but a more recent piece of hardware. The older Pixelbook '17 model has the best keyboard I've ever typed on not made by Lenovo and I'm not just talking about Chromebooks. The Pixelbook screen is beautiful. Get at least 4GB of RAM. If you think you'll run some Android apps which you can do on nearly all recent models of Chromebooks, then get at least 64GB of storage. Lenovo makes great keyboards. Avoid the ones with 720p screen or smaller 11-inch models. You won't enjoy those for using the Logos Web App. Get at least a Celeron and better a Core i3 but you don't need any faster than that unless you're running a ton of browser tabs and a bunch of Android apps.

Bill, thanks for this response. Would you mind going into a bit more detail on how you got the Logos desktop app running in a Linux container? I have a very similar setup to yours and have contemplating doing this, but I haven't had much success. I would preference the web app for almost everything, but every now and then, there's some feature I need to use, and it would be good to have the desktop version as a fallback until Logos gets better web app parity with their features.
Couple of questions for you:(1) Were you able to get Logos 8 working, or is it a previous version?
(2) I assume you're running something like Wine or Crossover to do it. Is that the case?
(3) Would you mind providing an (quick and simple) overview of the steps you followed? Please don't feel the need to provide a tutorial, I wouldn't ask that of you. Just some high level advice.

I use it on a daily bases and it is my prefered method of doing it other than my phone. web app works great. make sure though to look at googles end of life per Chromebook. other than that, have fun. any way I can help, let me know.
