Create new notebook: hard to find
I wasted enough time looking for this that I thought I should post to save someone else. Just wanted to create a new notebook to collect a bunch of existing highlights. It was confusing that the option didn't appear here (see first screenshot). The help page https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017978372-Notes-Tool was confusing too, as it just says, "You can create a new notebook by selecting the notebook view in the navigation menu, then clicking the plus icon." It could really use an explanatory picture, since I didn't know what it meant to "select the notebook view in the navigation menu." I found it eventually, and a second screenshot is included to help anyone else looking for it (see the second column from left with the "Notebooks" heading and the plus near it which appears when the thing above it is selected, underlined in orange). Again, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be in the list in the first screenshot.

I agree that it would help to create a Notebook as a New document, seeing that you can locate existing Notebooks in the Documents (Docs) menu.
it just says, "You can create a new notebook by selecting the notebook view in the navigation menu, then clicking the plus icon."
"Navigation menu" is unfamiliar to me, but it is used frequently in the Logos Help resource, whilst the popup in the App says "Open or close the sidebar". I would use "sidebar" to describe it.
Logos Help states "The Navigation menu shows two tabs: Filters and Notebooks".
Would it make more sense to say "You can create a new notebook by selecting the notebook tab in the sidebar"?Dave

Thanks, Dave. I think the long and short of it is: Add a screenshot to the help page, because not everyone is going to be familiar with the technical terminology, AND those are actually icons that don't have text that would clue you into their "names" (filters, notebooks) as used on the help page. Secondly, it seems like Notebook should be in that Docs|New dropdown, although there may very well be a logical reason it's not.

PS: I LOVE that the new version has links to the help pages. That is a big step forward for people like me who really want to dig deeper in the app, but get frustrated quickly when things don't work the way I expect them to. Reference: my history here.

Okay guys... perhaps I'm dense, but I still have no idea how to create a new notebook, Context: I'm reading a book and want to create a place to store all the various highlights and personal notes I'll be taking on it.
Can anyone post a
"1. do this
2. then do this
3. then do this"
type of instructions because I've been sitting here for about 40 minutes now...
THANKS! [8-|]

Part of the problem is I think that FL were so sure of themselves in their new notes solution they did not think users wanted / needed notebook functionality and so did the creation of new notebooks got buried in the interface instead of being easy to find and do.
They failed to understand some users still want control of what highlights and notes are displayed and when they are displayed and this can only be done through the use of notebooks otherwise its an all or nothing with FL 'no notebook' approach.
To get to the 'Notes Tool'
TOOLS -> CONTENT -> NOTES
- This is the major problem and point of confusion for users. FL have wrongly classified a notebook as a TOOL, when it is in fact a user created document and so the correct and logical place for engaging with this content is the document menu. They thought like engineers rather than end users when come up with this decision.
To Create a NOTEBOOK
1. Click on the 'hamburger' menu to display the side bar. By default is shows the filter options
2. Click on the Notebook icon (next to the filter icon)
3. Click on the encircled + symbol to create a new 'notebook'. This will add an untitled notebook for which you can rename.
To assign a note to a notebook
Click on SET NOTEBOOK to open a list of existing notebooks to choose from with a FIND box at the top to assist you have a long list of notebooks.
The directions are a bit rough but hope if assist you making this work for you.

Carmen, you got me a lot further down the road to creating a new note than any other instruction. This should be so easy. I do not like Clippings & prefer notes. Thank you! HOWEVER.... I want to create a note on patience & I can do so, but when I search for it, it doesn't come up. & then when I want to type in my notes, only the reference of my current Bible comes up. I can never bring up the "Set Note" function. Perhaps that will allow me to make a note in this notebook? Can you, please, help me find it? Thanks again.

Hi Angelica
You are responding to quite an old thread on an old version of the software but glad to hear it was useful.
There are a number of things in your post that I don't quite understand:
I want to create a note on patience & I can do so, but when I search for it, it doesn't come up
It would be good to know how you are trying to search for it - in the Notes Tool itself or one of the Logos search functions, for example?
when I want to type in my notes, only the reference of my current Bible comes up.
I'm not sure what you are describing here
I can never bring up the "Set Note" function.
Please expand on this - I'm not sure what function you are referring to
I suggest you start a new note in the Logos 9 desktop forum - https://community.logos.com/forums/155.aspx - assuming that is the version you are using and provide as many details as possible and we'll try to help.
