The scroll bars are way too small, making them hard to grab. The contrast is not great either on the logos screen. I think it's very bland and ugly. If the contrast were a little sharper, it might help.
When Kevin Purcell reads this he'll give you a hearty Amen. He's preached on this since the early beta testing.
I will give it now too. Amen! Keep preaching!
I aagree, there are many features that are designed to be fancy and attractive. They can be especially hard to use on a laptop with glairing light. One more vote for a more functional interface.

thank you Terry, as someone who has recently arrived on these Forums for posting this. As Mark has mentioned this was commented on in Beta testing with no results. Well, except for the "Mac" users who informed us that theirs WERE colorful, easy to see etc. The president posted to say that the "disappearing" feature was deliberate. I do not remember his comment on the virtually un-seeable light pastel color feature. If there is anything like a "Optometrist's Association of America" I'm sure they are hoping it stays as it is...because they probably will have LOTS more business!
I assume this was done for much younger "trendier" users?
I have found that click on the scroll bar makes the slider easier to see and grab. Not perfect but workable.
i wear glasses. i have a glaring screen. i don't see a problem (no pun intended) with it as it is. Non obtrusive. shows up when you use it.
Yep - would like to see improvement here as well.
Blessings,
Floyd
I actually like that the scroll bars are subtle, and get out of the way of the text. One of the more attractive design decisions, I think.
Yep. This was the first notice of this thread strangely enough.
If they just make them look like the Mac version I'd be happy. Still think it is a plot to get us all on Macs. Does Steve Jobs have partnership in Logos?
If they just make them look like the Mac version I'd be happy.
And if the Mac version would catch up with the Windows version we would be happy. [:P]

Then, I know a way to make you happy. [:D] When you get your Mac, the scroll bars will look like the Mac version. [8-|]
Maybe Logos has a quota system: if x number of people complain about something, then they take action. Here's my vote to make scroll bars more user friendly.
As a relatively new Logos user (October, 2009), the hard-to-see scroll bars was one of the first things that struck me when I first opened the program. Strange, given the otherwise amazing product that this is.
This goes back to the idea of having the program "fade" into the background so as to not take away focus from your studies. Have you considered the Scaling option in Program Settings?
George,
Personally for me the size is good, I just want there to be a bit more contrast. I am constantly losing the little slider bar in the side scroll of the book.
Have you used the wiki test to set your contrast?
Thanks for reminding me Martha.
If you haven't yet tried this, here is a simple tool for adjusting your monitor for optimal visibility: http://wiki.logos.com/Adjusting_your_Monitor.

Ok, I clicked on the link and did not have either of the brightness control or contrast control. all I saw was a page with the writing and a box. The top was a set of black to white notthing like "near black" strips that was spoken of ....but the bottom was just a white rectangle. there is no "near white" to it.
I assume Martha you are talking about this wiki page.....Darren posted?

The controls are on your monitor. You adjust your monitor until the screen matches its description.
Sadly, and even then Logos is the one app that looks bad...washed out and hard to see detail...sorry; Logos (in my opinion) needs to provide a more "like other apps" contrast scheme OR make it "user changable" and leave the washed out look as default (as long as I can change it, I don't care)
Sorry to be one of the, it seems few, dissenting voices. I like them as they are. More than happy to see options to meet other's requests but hope to have ability to continue as is among the options.
Will even contentedly submit to the majority if that is the decision but ask for options to be available at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.
