Remove Highlighting
Using the latest beta on PC - - -
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there no longer a quick way to remove highlights? The only way I can find is to open the Notebooks tool, find the note, and then delete it. I'm sure there used to be a quicker way but I cannot find it now.

Hi Anthony,
You can right click somewhere on the and choose to delete the highlight from pop up menu,
or select some of the text and choose to remove from the selection menu.
or you can select the text and choose Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+k to delete the highlight, which is probably the fastest.
Also, Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+k can also be used to partially delete a highlight, by selecting less of the text that currently highlighted.
Hope this helps

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for that, it does indeed work for most highlighting.
The highlight in question I was wanting to removed was a custom highlight that I had added a label to. Unfortunately it appears that if you add a custom highlight you do not get the highlighting options open when you right click.
Is this a bug do you know, or has that always been the case.
Thank you,
Tony.

Hi Kevin,
After playing around a bit I've found that I need to select the complete highlighted text, then it works OK!
I'm once again a happy bunny!

I cannot replicate your problem, even if there is a label and attributes applied I can delete as described above. I do get the highlighting options as above. I am on the latest beta so perhaps a bug in the default channel, I can check if so shortly.

I did not know that either.
FWIW - I just checked, and as long as the selection covers the entire highlight, it will work. In other words, no need to worry about getting "just" the highlighted portion.

I still cannot replicate, I can select just a small part of it and it deletes it all using the icons, or partially using ctrl-shift-k. I am on Windows, maybe you both are on OSX?

Hi Kevin,
Sorry, I should've mentioned that - I am on a PC.

Hi JT,
Sorry I forgot to say thanks a load for the tip that you can extend before and after the highlighted section. I had heard that once before but forgotten all about that (one of my senior moments, no doubt), that definitely makes life a lot easier and quicker.

Hmm. It is not working NOW the same way it was this morning. I can now select a single word from a highlighted portion and click on the delete icon. That did not work this morning. In fact, there was no delete icon! The only way I could get the delete icon to appear was to have the entire highlight in the selection.

Hi JT,
Very weird because I am sure that I always used to just right click on a word within the selection. I installed a Windows update a day or so back and it definitely played funny games with me. It altered the settings on my network card and took me ages to get back on line. Well, actually it didn't take that long to alter the settings back the time spent was in trying to find out what was happening. I should have smelt a rat when I saw the aeroplane symbol in the task bar, I never switch that on! Also, a friend of mine installed the same update and is now having horrific problems with their printer. Every time they switch on it says that the printer is offline. No idea why but if they run the HP trouble-shooter it says that the printer is offline but then when you check with windows it is back on line again. I just love Microsoft updates they are a real challenge sometimes.

Is anyone experiencing this problem who is not on Beta?
If not, this should be moved to the Beta forum

Anthony,
Just to confirm this is working correctly for you? That's what I understood from your most recent post in this thread.

HI Philana,
Yes, all appears to be OK now.
Thanks for checking!
