Zero Resources

I installed my download for the Platinum on a MacBook Air. The download had a small blue (+) in the top toolbar margin for about 17%. At the 17% mark, it stopped, and the macbook went into a mode where it was installing libraries (I think that is what it said) then it was indexing libraries - I think.

Today, I launch the software, and it has 0 resources. When I sign in and relaunch, it does not give any opportunity to re-download anything.

I have the program running at home (I am at work) on my iMac and I hope there is more success. Perhaps if I remove everything from the macbook, and try it again it will work (where are all the files so that I can "uninstall"?)

Any help would be appreciated. I will click for "email replies for this post" so that I get answers as quickly as possible. If this does not work for me, I will be forced to return the product until it is out of beta (or alpha as it were).

Try downloading Alpha 16a which was just posted at http://www.logos.com/logos4mac which might fix your issue.

If it doesn't see the FAQ link in my signature, particularly item #6 which details instructions on how to report issues by posting your logs.

Okay, I did that - and we have the (+) in the upper white tool bar, and it currently (as I type) has "2% of 5.9 GB" displayed. I am at work, where we have 15Mbps download, so I am going to plug the laptop into the wall, set the sleep to "never" and let it do its thing.

Should I expect it to be until tomorrow am that this is done? Can I leave it here attached to my wall in my office until the morning? Given the macbook air (with SSD) performance, when should I expect a library full of resources?

(Please excuse me if this is posted elsewhere. This week has been difficult for me, I have had office computers causing hectic workplace performance, and I have had some bad news come my way in the medical health area - so prayers for my software, prayers for my patience, and prayers for my health would not hurt either).

I'm thinking indexing might take something less than 8 hours depending on the size of your library. I haven't timed it recently on my personal MacBook 2 Ghz. I index rather often at work on my MacPro, so that kind of skews my perspective since it's way faster. Lots of RAM, fast CPUs and fast disks help a lot.

I'm sorry to hear about your rough week. I just took a minute to pray for your health (and your patience). I'm reminded that there are more important things than L4 Mac.

Other users might be able to chime in on how long a full index takes on their respective machines.

Okay - enough of the macbook air (we will see about that tomorrow am)

I am now home, looking at my iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

I have been "Preparing your library ... This may take a while" for at least 8 hours, probably 16 (as there was some shut-eye in between there).

Am I on target? I am going to go lie down again. -=sigh=-

That seems a little bit to long. I suggest restarting Logos 4. If that doesn't work, check out the FAQ's in my signature, item #6 and post your logs in this thread.

So anybody know the name of the directory where I can peek to see if all these "libraries that are being prepared" are actually there? - and that these items are actually being populated ... and that the little spinning wheel isn't just decoration ????

Under your personal folder, there is a Library folder. Under that Application Support/Logos4/<some_user_id>/ResourceManager/Resources

I'd say post your logs. Also, check Activity Monitor to see if LogosIndexer process is still running.

It seemed that whatever version of the .dmg was currently available when I purchased the product was flawed, as neither of my machines (MacBook Air or iMac) would go any further than an "indexing - this may take a while" page - but was not doing anything.

I re-loaded from the link above, and both machines are happy, as is their owner.

check Activity Monitor to see if LogosIndexer process is still running

I've found that opening Logos4.log or Indexer.log in the Console is a good way to see whether the Indexer is really working or not. If it is, you can see the progress expressed as a percentage every now and again, which provides real reassurance of progress, even if it doesn't tell you how long it will take.
