HELP: 8.12 won't install - how to CUSTOM install

Hi,

8.12 hasn't been able to install like usual - an error pops up.

So I tried downloading LogosSetup (https://logos.com/downloads/280) to start again...I have always installed on a different drive (not the C drive) - However with this new setup download there is no Custom button to install to a different location - it just downloads the latest version and automatically starts an install to the C drive.

Is this something that has been missed from the latest setup? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

James

    Hi James,

The situation you describe is not due to a recent change.  If you are not seeing the option to do a Custom Install, that would normally mean you need to first uninstall Logos. Then, once you re-install, you should see that option for Custom Install.  You uninstall Logos just like you uninstall any program in Windows.  In Windows 10 you should be able to go to your Start Menu, find Logos in your list of programs, right clock on Logos, and choose uninstall.

However, I am getting ahead of myself.  Before you try re-installing, could you please let us know what the error message is?  It would be very helpful to have the exact wording, if that is possible.

    Hi Joe,

Thanks for the very quick and useful reply.

Unfortunately, I had uninstalled Logos already. However, the message in the dialog box was extremely short and uninformative along the lines of "Unable to install Logos", with no reason given.

    Sorry couldn't be more help.

I did not realise that Custom only shows up if you have uninstalled. Just run the setup again and lo and behold the custom install option was now available.

It has just finished installing, have copied my data and user folder back over and have just run Logos - says updated to 8.12 - wahoo!!

Seems to be OK now - just reindexing my 30 odd thousand resources (could be in for a long ride!)

Anyway, thanks again for your support and prompt reply.

Trusting the Logos Team is staying well in these difficult times. Every blessing,

    James
