The rotation lock icon is driving me crazy.
The rotation lock icon is driving me crazy is there a way to hide it from showing up? OR is there a way to return to a previous version of the software? maybe it would be better if the rotation lock was on either the menu when you swipe down or up. it just seems like it shows up and disappears randomly. maybe just knowing why it appears and disappears would help. It isn't just when i change the orientation which would seem like the ideal if it must be there.

What about it is driving you crazy?

I added more to my post. It is because of the appearing and disappearing at random times.

The lock appears whenever the device detects an orientation change. I just realized that it shows when the orientation changes to face up or face down. It should really only show the lock if the orientation changes to landscape or portrait. I'll fix that in the next release and thanks for reporting it.

That is good to know. because i have it close to 45 degrees so it probably it switching between flat and sideways. i will try to hold it up flatter until the new release comes out. Any estimate how often the releases are being put out?

I'm working on a version that'll run on the iPad as well as the iPhone so there won't be another release until the iPad is out.

Good to hear that you're working on a solution. [:)] The other day I was reading something on Logos while riding in a car, and the rotation lock was coming in and out like crazy. [:P]

For me is seems to do that when it is at an angle that confuses the iPod, it keeps changing back and forth.
I think the feature is very well implemented and I am grateful for it. It just seems to need a little tweaking. (As mentioned, putting it on menu with an up swipe would also work.)

Dave exlpaind this Rob.
The problem is that it is recognizing not just rotation but also vertical and horizontal motion. The fix is coming but not till after the ipad comes out. That is 4-3

I am grateful for this new feature and am excited that there is a fix on the way for the current "oversensitivity". Thanks to the devs for doing such a terrific job and for having such sanctified imaginations in creating such a powerful tool. This app is the only reason I purchased an iPad.

I would suggest the rotation lock icon be a little more subdued. The Kindle icon is noticeable but fairly unobtrusive. The one on the Logos app is a little too bold.

I suggest that we be given a "hard" orientation lock option where it just stays locked without the lock icon popping up all the time...or make it much less sensitive, like you would have to turn pretty darn close to horizontal (or vertical) to have it pop up.
Most of us lock because we are in that "in between area" right around 45 degrees where it gets all jumpy. Currently when reading in bed (or even sometimes just nice and reclined on the couch) the icon pops up every few seconds...I'm getting better at holding it, but it would be nice if I didn't have to think about it.
I agree with this thread. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the lock. Better to have an icon than a screen flip.

Unfortunately we can't control the sensitivity of orientation change detection. The device determines if the orientation has changed and the app can only respond to it.

Good to know. In that case it's not so bad, but perhaps a less obtrusive icon (50% transparency or something like that) might be nice.

It was probably someone's good idea to have a cool icon popup whenever the orientation changed but is it really necessary since there is a lock option in the settings? What is it's real purpose?

The pop up icon is nice since sometimes it is nice to be able to rotate quickly (when a title is longer than the screen, or for other odd formatting).
It has been mentioned to make it more transparent. Perhaps it could also be smaller. The first time it was great to see to know it was there. After that, it could be very small so as to not be a distraction if it pops up. (Since for most people the first time only happens once, small should work fine... Some people, such as my self, may have really bad memories so that first time discovery may happen again and again.
