Slow loading upon opening program.

I just purchased Logos 4 and am finding that it takes several minutes (4-6 min) for everything to load on my MacBook Pro in the "My Content: tab.  When I tried to go to a different Bible reference it didn't load due to the continued original loading of the program.  When I tried to "quit" the program, it didn't respond, so I had to force quit several times.  Today, while I was on hold with tech support waiting for help, I noticed that the program had finally loaded after 5+ minutes.  Any suggestions?

Here the specs on my Mac:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo

  Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz

  Number Of Processors: 1

  Total Number Of Cores: 2

  L2 Cache: 6 MB

  Memory: 4 GB

  Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

Which version of the program are you using? Are you using Parallels or something else to emulate windows and using Logos4 for Windows? Or are you using the Mac version?

I'm using the Mac version of Logos 4.

I will move this thread to the Mac forum and someone there could provide more help.

If you had a passage guide open, that can really slow things down. I've got a 2.0 Ghz Macbook and it can take 10 minutes to open a passage guide due to Biblical People Places and Things sections which were added in A16. Unfortunately, this is expected behavior for the current alpha. We're going to optimize those sections as soon as we can because we realize the performance is unacceptable for general use. On the flip side, the Mac product is currently a "Pre-release alpha" so there are going to be some issues like that as we progress through development.

One thing you can do to speed up the initial startup is to click the Customize button on the Home Page and click "Show Home Page on startup". That will not load a previously saved layout, but the program will startup faster.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you, I did it and it does starts the program quicker.  When I loaded the "layout," which I'm assuming is equal to the Libronix "workspace," it still take a very long time but I understand it something that you guys are working out.  Thanks again.

When I loaded the "layout," which I'm assuming is equal to the Libronix "workspace,"

Yes, with more features and flexability.

it still take a very long time

When you get your workspace open, close all the items in the PG and EG (Click the little triangle to the left of the item name). Then you can open the ones you are interested in and then close them again. This way your layouts will open faster.
