Mac OS Catalina
Hi,
Could someone confirm that it is safe, from a Logos perspective, to update my Mac to Catalina. My iMac 5k 2017 is still currently running Sierra.
I know there were some issues back last year, and just wanted to check before upgrading, as I need to have Logos access.
Thanks
Duncan

Currently running Logos 8.13 Beta 3 (purchased library) & Verbum 8.13 Beta 3 (demonstration library with $0.00 order total) using macOS 10.15.4 on a 27" iMac 5k 2019 (was running macOS 10.15 on a 27" iMac 5K 2014 prior to a friend helping me upgrade earlier this year).
Caveat: macOS 10.15 Catalina only runs 64 bit applications while macOS 10.14 Mojave can run both 64 bit applications and 32 bit applications (with pop-up warning about 32 bit application needing an upgrade for future macOS releases). After upgrading to macOS 10.15 Catalina, all 32 bit applications had transparent No symbol overlaid on application icon.
Reply in thread Logos 8 Mac System Recommendations (what you'd actually want as a user) => has more details about my 27" iMac https://community.logos.com/forums/p/188994/1091934.aspx#1091934 (can boot up macOS 10.15 Catalina OR macOS 10.14 Mojave with one Logos 8 & Verbum 8 installation shared on internal SSD - since setting up dual boot have not needed macOS 10.14 Mojave thus far with older 32 bit Office as LibreOffice 6.4.2 works on macOS 10.15 Catalina).

Yes, and it has been since shortly after Catalina came out.

Yes though Logos seems buggier on a Mac to me then my PC but I've only known Logos on Catalina via Mac. This could also be user error for all I know

Searching these forums finds Logos 8 bug issues with Beta macOS 10.15 Catalina (prior to public release on 7 Oct 2019). Logos wiki => Logos Release History includes 8.8 RC 2 “Gold” (released on 1 Oct 2019) being compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina (so Logos & Verbum releases prior to 8.8 are unwise to try using with macOS 10.15 Catalina: recommend upgrading Logos/Verbum to 8.8 or newer before upgrading macOS to 10.15 Catalina).
Logos wiki => Logos Release History includes macOS 10.14 Mojave (initial release was 24 Sep 2018) needing upgrade to 10.14.1 or newer to fix many Logos 8 crashes:

- macOS 10.14.1 fixed many crashes on macOS 10.14.0 Mojave

It's safe as far as running Logos. But you do need to be aware that Catalina will not run any app you currently have that is 32 bit. Also Catalina will reformat your drive to APFS the new Apple file system.
