saving and saved layouts

One of the suggestions I made for Logos 9 is that it would resemble more Word Office, where it would save your document every few minutes or so, if  you wanted, so that if it got interrupted, shut off, etc., it had a current copy of what you were working on.

I have learned to save my layout to keep the documents current more often.  Now I am finding that it won't update the active layout.  I have to name it, and the snapshots are all from yesterday.

Not a big deal, except that Logos is supposed to save me time, and this is just a little thing that wastes it.  I thought something like this would have been fixed  years ago.

What am I missing here?

I'm not having that problem and I've been doing a fair amount of work with layouts this afternoon. What version of the software? What platform?

And just for your information, I generally would not want my layouts to be automatically updated. I save them only a clean start points.

I've got the latest program with all the updates.  I used to be able to just update the active layout.  Now it's grayed out all the time.

I don't know what you mean by platform.

I have been using the same layout for years.  3 columns, with lxx, English, Greek NT, Hebrew, Latin dictionary, Apostolic Fathers Greek and English, highlight, Vulgate, German, French Bibles as my tabs.  I've started to watch the training videos, so I've been clearing the screen more.  Being bold.

By platform I mean PC or MAC or IOS ,,,

Is the name of the layout appearing in the upper left? If not, the application doesn't know what the active layout is so it can't update it.

Are you opening the layout from the layout icon in the upper right?

    windows PC,

Is the name of the layout appearing in the upper left.  Upper left of what?  In that layouts menu, based on the icon in the upper right of the screen, my layout is listed in the saved layouts.

I don't see anything that looks like what I think you are describing.

If there is no layout name in the upper left, you do not have a layout open so there is no current layout to update. Therefore, you see the gray. I suspect you are opening to the last used layout. If you explicitly open the layout from the layout menu, things should return to what you expect.
