I have entered various references into my Logos 8 Illustrations Guide with no results. Does this mean I do not have any illustrations in my Library?

When you say "references", are you talking about verse or passage references? If so, the Illustrations guide is Topic driven.

Admittedly, I was first entering verse references or passages. I have now tried "Salvation" but still get no results:

The books which I have that are returning results are things like "1500 illustrations for Biblical Preaching." Other than "Feathers for Arrows," every resource I am getting has Illustrations in its title. Do you have any of those kinds of resources? Also, there are two guides both confusingly named "Illustrations." One accepts topics and one accepts Scripture references, so make sure you are selecting the one you want (look at the headings).

Searching my Library for "illustrations," it appears that the only work with this word in the title is under Type "Monograph," and Title "Bible Illustrations," by Edward Maunde Thompson, copyright, 1896, by Henry Frowde. Therefore, I imagine that I need to purchase something like the work you mentioned, "1500 Illustrations for Biblical Preaching," to get results.

Also, a huge "thank you" for pointing out that there are two Guides, both confusingly named "Illustrations," where one accepts topics, and one accepts Scripture references. I think I had already experienced problems with this situation without realizing it!

    Many thanks.

Screen shot shows Scripture and Topical Illustration Guides from a Library that has several dozen Illustration resources:

Noticed "Nelson's Annual Preacher's Sourcebook" did not have Illustrations in the resource title.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

Glad to be of help. I is a quirk because Logos did not make the individual parts of a guide available like that until recently. Back then, you would create a custom guide and add what you wanted, so the kind of guide you made would dictate which illustrations module was added. Now that they are accessible directly, they really need to do something to clarify which is which.

Indeed, Logos needs to distinguish between the Bible Reference Illustrations Guide and Topic Illustrations Guide. Since placing a shortcut to each of them on my Shortcuts Toolbar, I noticed that the popup text descriptions when mouse-hovering over them are also vague: "Open Illustrations" and "Open Illustrations 2". Hello Logos???
