Is the Assembly of God denomination considered represented by one of the Base Packages? Since I know so little about them, I don’t know if they’re considerd part of one of these sets or not.
AOG might fit in the Pentecostal & Charismatic ballpark.
I wondered, but I didn't just want to assume. Thanks
The Pentecostal/Charismatic package has traditionally served the AOG users. I wouldn't take what's in the packages as aligning with the denomination. I kind of groan at the wonky nature of stuff that wafts through the packages in this category (but it's not limited to this one either!).
Good to know. I don't want to just make assumptions, so that's why I started the thread. I find that these different base packages help me in an ecumenical sense of understanding what other traditions actually believe instead of relying on inaccurate rumors of what they believe.
(I'm hoping I haven't said anything cluelessly offensive)
The Pentecostal/ Charismatic package is probably the "wonkiest' of all targeted base packages as far as doctrinal beliefs go. My own "denomination" fits in that category, but I can tell you that there is much in those packages that we would not necessarily endorse. I understand what Logos is doing, but I would be hesitant to use that package as a way of determining the beliefs of the traditions represented in that package. AOG would be in that package, but I'm positive that not all in that package would represent the AOG mindset.
not all in that package would represent the AOG mindset
Nor is there one "AOG mindset" (as in many of the packages that reflect de-centralized polity)
Well, it’s all educational for me. AOG is probably the largest denomination in my area, but I know little about them in general. I figure it would be useful to learn what they hold. But if it’s something that varies, I might be approaching it in the wrong way.
You would probably have a better understanding by visiting our National Headquarters website: www.ag.org the biggest thing that our denomination is wrapped around are our 16 Fundamental Truths, which can be found here: www.ag.org/Beliefs/Statement-of-Fundamental-Truths I hope this will help you. By the way, The Pentacostal & Charismatic packages are typically what we would closely fall into; however, I have basically built up my library first by buying the Standard packages, I am currently up to Gold, and then buying the the base packages in other denominations. I currently am only on Bronze in the Pentacostal & Charismatic as well as in the Reformed. I also have Starter in Orthodox, Methodist & Wesleyan, Messianic Jewish, Lutheran, & Baptist. My current Library is just over 4,300 resources.
Thanks for the suggestion
I graduated from Central Bible College, the primary Assemblies of God ministerial college at the time, in the late 80s. For only $10.99 this collection would give you a great overview of what the denomination believes and practices.

As for the Pentecostal/Charismatic package in Logos? I don’t think it represents the A/G all that much. There are good books in it, but there are also a lot of things that I would disavow completely as false doctrine. There is a very wide swath of doctrinal representation in that package. And for my two cents, not nearly enough of it reflects traditional, conservative Pentecostal theology.
Didn’t know this one existed. Thanks
Ditto! I went a head and bought it with the cheapest Bronze Base Package ever (0.21 cents!!!). 👍😁👌

Glad to help. It’s definitely worth it just for the position papers alone. If you read the papers on “Apostles and Prophets“; “Can a born-again Christian be demon possessed?”; “Divine Healing”; “End time revival“; and “The believer and Positive Confession“ you will see why I say the P/C package has many resources that do not line up with the Assemblies of God, or traditional conservative Pentecostalism.

Thanks for the tip. That book series doesn't show up as being in a base package but is. I Nabbed it cheap.https://www.logos.com/product/165430/logos-8-pentecostal-and-charismatic-bronze
Wait, it’s an unmentioned Bronze resources? Or did I misinterpret it?
How do you find that out when it’s not listed as being in a package?
Bronze Eastern Rite Base Package. See this tread: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/189754.aspx

I have that BP, but the AG series is not in my library. If I can get this in a cheap BP, I would like to add it.
Perhaps I should correct the sentence: I went ahead and bought it! I also bought the cheapest Bronze Base Package ever (0.21cents!!!).
So yeah, the resource is not included in any base package, but it’s still cheap 👍😁👌
Sorry for the confusion!

Whew! Sanity restored. Thanks.

thanks for the link! ...and, yeah, I was scrambling to figure out the BP it was in and kept rereading the thread to decipher the intended syntax which DAL later revealed. [:D] (adding to my confusion is that there is a resource in the Eastern Rite Bronze that is NOT in the ER Silver but shows back up in Gold...so I was trying to see if that was something that was going on with the AG resources...because I own PG bronze and it wasn't in there...:D)
Btw, used to play Central Baptist in basketball, late 80s. I didn't realize it was AG. we also traveled down there to play Baptist Bible...
PG Bronze?
I was offered a new Gold Base Package that contained curated resources from all the denominational base packages. I just bought standard Portfolio, so I wasn’t interested in it. I wonder if they’ll actually release it to the public or maybe it’s just a special exclusive inside offer. I looked at the excel list of resources, but I got tired of figuring out the “new to you” since everything was mixed (owned and not owned). For now, I’m doing great with base packages. I’ll just wait for Logos 9 and see what they offer. 👍😁👌
HA! P&C...
smarty. [:D]

...although, thinking about it now, it COULD have been the Proctor & Gamble Netherworld BP. FL dropped it after several focus group flame outs, however.
One difficulty is that a significant part of the Pentecostal denominations (such as the Assemblies of God) is trinitarian, while a significant part of the Pentecostal denominations (such as the United Pentecostal) is not trinitarian. That is a quite significant difference in theology.
