Is there a way to identify the resources in your library that are untagged? With L7 this was a snap. Not so, at least for me with L8.
Sort by tag - those without tags sort to the top.
selected Tags->Mytags I could not see the ESV. Help!
Sort on - no filters just click on the heading line for mytags and it will sort on that column.
I think what MJ is suggesting is that if you sort the Library by MyTags, then you can see those without tags from the facet on the left
Now I follow. The screenshot did wonders. I guess I'm a visual learner.
Graham,
Now I have another problem. When I go to add a tag, it disappears from the list that it's sorted to. What's the fix for that?

Do you mean that when you add the tag to the resource, the resource disappears from the list of non-tagged resources?
If so, that is expected behaviour.
What problem is it causing you?
Yes, unless I memorize the title, I can't track where the title has gone off to! Inconvenient.
What other things do you want to do to the resource apart from tagging it?

Add the tag is all.
So why do you still want to access it once you have applied the tag? I would have thought you would want it to disappear from the list so you can concentrate on the next one.
Sorry - I think I'm missing the point of what is not working for you.

I have a number of tags that I apply to most if not all of my resources
If you apply them all to a resource at the same time does that address the problem?
Graham, You are a dear and I mean that in a gender neutral sense.[:)]
If I follow your reasoning correctly, you mean for me to enter the data as a string of entries before I hit Enter. This works, but it still involves extra work in that I must now re-enter all of the data once more then open the resource and cleanup the string of data I originally entered, but this is a slight improvement, but it's still messy. I miss the L7 method of handling this process. It was elegant. I would like to label this current behavior a BUG and get the developers to reintroduce the former method. I'm dissatisfied by it all. Do you have any further tweaks you can recommend? And mind you there is still the matter of me correctly interpreting your suggestion in the first place!

Yes - that is what I am suggesting
open the resource and cleanup the string of data I originally entered
This I don't understand! The fact that the resource shows up in the untagged list suggests there aren't any tags there. So what data is there to clean up?
Maybe a short video of what you are doing would clarify if that is possible.

I admit I don't remember what was different about it. Can you enlighten me?

N.B. The string serves only to remind the user of meaningful tags. Having served its intended purpose its usefulness is expired and it can now be safely and by necessity be deleted.

Amodeo, when I purchase new resources, it is listed as "not rated by you" in my library. I tag each of them with all of the tags that I want them to be sorted by...THEN!!!, I apply a rating star. I have done it that way for about 4 or 5 years (since I started using the tags). I can apply all of the tags that I want or need to each resource without them "hiding themselves" while I am still trying to work on their tags. Until I put my star rating in place, those resources are still listed as "unrated" and therefore easier to find.In the last couple of days, I purchased several bronze base packages that added approximately 300 resources (about 120 of those still remain to be tagged and rated), and today, I was able to quickly find those that I haven't tagged as yet.If I have to retag multiple resources, I will usually take off my star rating until I can accomplish that task...then reapply the star rating, at which time the resource(s) "find their way back home" in my library. (If I only have to one resource to retag, I just locate that resource in my library and apply the appropriate tag.
but perhaps a screenshot of what I see after I have entered the string will drive home the point that once the string has been entered and one hits Enter the resource no longer shows up in the untagged category
Thank you - the screenshot was helpful. But I'm still missing something!
As far as I can see we can add multiple tags to a resource which removes the need for any reminder string.
I've created a short video to demonstrate - https://1drv.ms/v/s!Ageu8AF7ERmDgb8UI2rKnSKqib9ung?e=1z5jWy
Does this do what you need or am I (still!) missing something?
Sorry for the hiatus. I had to attend a meeting then I studied at length your video. I tried to duplicate as much as possible everything I saw on your work. I noticed something that may hold the key to why my program is not performing as it should. Notice that at the top of the Library panel it says "All > My Tags: (None)" then your results. See below that I am missing this setting. Could this be the flaw that results in unexpected behavior? Thanks so much for sticking it out with me. I am going to have a session with Customer Service. What I'm experiencing should not be.
It's confirmed it is a known MacOS BUG the developers have a case open on it already. The time table is not known, but it will be addressed in a future update.
Thanks again,
You're fantastic and a true gentleman. Blessings to you!
