Recent UserVoice comment:
Windows 10 version 1909 (build 18363.476) added Dark Mode choice for default app mode: Start => Settings => Personalization => Colors
Apple added Dark Mode to macOS 10.14 Mojave & macOS 10.15 Catalina
Both PC & Mac now support Dark Mode for applications.Noticed an earlier comment with link to Accordance Dark Mode.

Dark mode is rapidly becoming ubiquitous. It would be a welcome addition to Logos/Verbum.

At the absolute latest, this Accessibility-related improvement should be implemented in Logos/Verbum 9.

I was referring to Dark Mode, which I mistakenly thought would be clear given this thread's title. Sorry!

Apologies to those already familiar with but curioue as to what ‘Dark Mode’ would bring to the software?

Principally, an option that reduces eye strain, which is particularly valued by some people who have greater difficulties than others in using programs such as Logos and Verbum without it. Some of the posters in the Accessibility threads that Keep Smiling linked to were quite pleased to discover workarounds in the absence of Dark Mode (also called Night Mode); it would be better still if workarounds were not needed.

Logos 8 thread => Dark Mode includes a "Dreaming..." mock-up by Randy W. Sims
Personally like reading light colored text (e.g. white, blue, red, yellow, green) on dark background (so dreaming of dark background for resources too).
Logos 4 thread => How-to: "Night Mode" toggle button on Windows 7 PC includes "Night Mode" (using Windows 7 Magnifier)
Internet search site:community.logos.com negative screen finds a number of forum threads with "dark mode" examples.

Happy for this to be an option for those that it makes a difference but personally I find it a struggle to read the dark screen shot mock up. I have to strain to read them. Much easier for me to read dark text on light background.

My eyes prefer Dark mode in macOS and Windows 10. Mock up with mixture of light and dark background areas is challenging to read dark backgrounds (my preference is entire screen having dark background).
Apple has three mode choices in System Preferences => General: Light, Dark, Auto (in macOS 10.14 Mojave and macOS 10.15 Catalina)
Microsoft Windows 10 (version 1909) has three choices in Settings => Personalization => Colors: Light, Dark, Custom (can choose Light/Dark for Windows mode and default app mode). Windows 10.
Currently the Logos/Verbum setting for Resource Background os Windows Default is White (ignoring Dark Mode choice by user).
Dreaming of Dark Mode option for Faithlife web sites too.

Would be nice. I'm surprised how few color options there are. Basically, it's paper, grey, or white. I suppose you could have whatever color you want if you changed your system default colors.

On macOS 10.15 Catalina with System Preference set to Dark Mode, the "Windows Default" causes Resource Background to be White. Currently Search and Guides have white background (ignores user system default color).

I do hope you get your dark mode - I am not a fan of it at all - I swear it is harder on my eyes than the normal mode. But I would really like it to be done so we can change the subject. Keep up the good work pushing your favorite feature.

Depends on ambient lighting for effect on my eyes: like using Dark Mode at night or in a darkened setting. Also aware Dark Mode is a personal color choice. For one MVP (Gold Star), if Dark Mode is implemented, till be a tad too late for his eyes with diabetic retinopathy => Matthew C Jones (also true for my best friend who departed human tent almost two years ago). My grandmother with wet macular degeneration would have appreciated Dark Mode (a device that enabled her to read books & newspapers inverted black & white along with magnification for display on TV).
Windows 10 (1909 version) and macOS (10.14 & 10.15) both have operating system choices for Light & Dark Mode (with macOS having option for mode to automatically match Daylight: Light in the Day and Dark at Night).

It is. Most of the actual evidence available points that way. Unless you're reading in a darkened room. Evidence also seems to indicate a greater accuracy rate reading for dark text on light background (positive display polarity). Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge fan of Dark Mode (negative display polarity). My PC, Android phone, and iPad all are set to Dark Mode. But not for reading. I love Dark UI because it gets out of my way and lets me focus on the content. Most content I prefer light mode with a reduced contrast (my design focus when I rethemed this forum).
On the other hand, I'm a huge fan of user choice and believe that ultimately it should be up to the user. I just pray we see independent settings for UI, tool windows, and content windows. And a wider variety of color choices for content beyond white, light grey, even lighter gray, more lighter gray, extreme lighter gray. My favorite right now is the light green on Kindle. I thought the color was absurd until I started using it. After 20 mins reading it disappears and makes a great reading experience, for my eyes. Your eyes may vary.

Me too...I want the menus and peripheral elements of an app to be dark, so they fade to the background. But the reading area I want to be light. Some apps (like Apple's Notes, email, etc) are this way. Others, it's either all dark or all light.

i can dig it. this captured my attention and imagination. I've looooong wanted a pallet of wonderful tones and hues, both for beauty's sake and for more distinction and differentiations.
There used to be a software called Pradis that allowed you to change colors. Perhaps some were a little garish, but I liked having the options.

Exactly. I would love to be able to set colors for everything. Also, I wold like the option for a gradient color picker, not just one shade of pink, green, or blue. This doesn't force anyone to use an option they don't want. It just allows those who want more variety in color to have it.
