I want to find every passage where there is the idea of a person knows God.
Now I know in Proverbs 3:6, English says acknowledge, but Hebrew says know, so it has to be from the Hebrew text
One search idea is Right Click on Hebrew word => choose root => click search Bible => add <Person God> proximity
<Root = lbs/he/ידע> WITHIN 3 WORDS <Person God>
Changing proximity to AND includes Proverbs 3:20 in results
<Root = lbs/he/ידע> AND <Person God>
Lexham Hebrew Bible (LHB) can also be searched using English gloss for Hebrew word: e.g. (useful for finding Hebrew lemmas / roots)
(acknowledge OR know OR knowledge OR known) AND <Person God>
Keep Smiling [:)]
clause search: (verb-lemma:ידע OR verb-lemma:ראה) object:God gives 90 Results
Thank you. Sounds good.
I can't get the Hebrew text. I try h: and type the English but Logos doesn't give me a list of possible Hebrew words.
I can use the keyboard to type Hebrew, but I can't find the ayin key. I used to know it pretty well.
But, like I said, Logos isn' t giving me options when I type.
Make sure you are in Bible Search or Morph Search, using an appropriate morphological bible. Ensure no spaces after the colon e.g. g:logos, h:elohim
I was responding to someone else who suggested a clause search. He showed me what he did. He had the Hebrew printed, and that was what I was saying. The clause search had the right search syntax, which I don't see for the Bible or morph searches.
I did a clause search as that other person recommended, and Logos did show me the Hebrew options. And the search worked. Whew!
I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere with Logos.
Dave, you have helped me a lot in the past, and I'm sure there will be a lot more time in the future.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it.
I got it. I don't know why it worked now but not before.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
I see your searches got hundreds of hits. Maybe a few more than helpful.
Another person recommended a clause search. Verb lemma add object. It worked, but I had 2 verses that in mind when I started the search that did not show up in the results.
יָדַע the verb. God as the object
It missed I Chronicles 28:9 and Jer 22:16
So I'm wondering: what other verses did I miss? And why?
Any ideas?
1 chron 28:9 showed up in my clause search results. Jes 22:16 did not: here the reference in the hebrew text is not the verb 'yd but the noun da'at (which of course derives from the root 'yd)
sorry i meant Jer 22: 16 not Jes
thank you
I ran the search several times, and I didn't get it.
But you were very helpful
I really appreciate it.
