Terry,
I had no problem with the way you responded, you even threw in some humor for good measure! I was really trying to say (perhaps poorly!) that depending on the perspective a person holds about the rules, is how they will respond to reminders about those same rules. It really boils down to a seemingly no win situation. English is such a hard language to communicate in, hence the need for emoticons to avoid misunderstandings.

Technically you are correct. I think several states complied to keep their Federal highway funds coming. But the Feds are quick to point out when the 55 mph speed limit kicked in, the highway traffic fatalities were significantly lowered. Thanks, Big Brother!

The problem you're gonna have is some want to enforce the rules by the letter of "intent" while others just want broad guidelines with lots of mercy thrown in for good measure. Anyone who "reminds" someone of the "intent" of the rules is going to rub the people who follow the broad outline of the rule the wrong way and seem overbearing at times.
Very true observation. That is why everybody needs to "gently" remind each other.

Most times these active links were never intended to harm Logos or divert business away -certainly not in this particular thread. But as MJ has stated, there have been blatant actions in the forums before.....

Well.... there was also a culture change. My eldest brother had two accidents driving a truck before he was 6 (no he wasn't on county roads). I was 10 before I drove a tractor on country roads. And most boys were 12 (generally) or 14 (legally) before they drove wheat trucks into town. Coming to think of it, it was the adults who got in accidents. You're right.[:D]

Here's my story. I worked in a women's state correctional facility for three years. My job was to enforce the rules. I only lasted three years because enforcing rules made me unpopular with the residents and also with my counterparts since I enforced them more to the letter than to the spirit in which they were written. Other officers were more leniant, offered copious instances of good will, had longer careers and even the residents liked them.
Joan,, First I have to tell you I resigned church eldership because I found it a difficult task to deal with church members who were in rebellious disobedience to God. You are right to suggest the enforcement needs to be tempered with mercy. But your example just begs to be examined here. The "residents" were placed in the correctional facility because they refused to comply with the accepted rules of society. They believed they were exempt from the rules or thought the rules were unfair. Of course the "residents" are not going to like anyone who enforces rules. You said your job was to enforce the rules. You & I did the right thing when resigning our positions since we were having difficulty carrying out our responsibilities. But I'm fairly sure that if any guards ever smuggled contraband into the facility, it was the guards who were popular with the "residents." Remember God did not bend the rules about touching the Ark of the Covenant. The death penalty was still imposed

If Logos would limit the posting of active links to the children we would only have to worry about Pet Society, Club Penguin and Wonder Pets.
Come to think of it, that would probably be acceptable!

I think I was wrong! I finally find one thing that has the same function with the Dictionary of the "Complete Biblical Library":
New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology (4 Vols.)
and
New International Dictionary of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis
(5 Vols.)These two are produced in one consistent set (as the Complete Biblical Library does) including both NT and OT. And, when I compare the way they explain the word, it is pretty much the same (but these two are more lengthy, thoroughly)
Please see if you agree with me too. I would buy these two sets if it is really better than the Complete Biblical Library.
Thanks.

FYI, Thoralf Gilbrant died in 2006. I had the privilege of serving as the Associate Editor of the Greek-English Dictionary for the Complete Biblical Library. Thoralf was a man of great vision whose greatest work (CBL) had the unfortunate fate of coming out just at the same time resources like Gramcord were being developed, and then later products such as Logos mad e it very difficult to market CBL.The scope of the work was unparalleled at the time, and the vision of a system that allowed those without technical language training to access the treasures of the original was extraordinary.
Thoralf was one of the greatest men I have ever had the honor of knowing, and the joy of working alongside for nearly 4 years.

Thanks for the information. I believe God will remember what he had built. I benefit a lot from the CBL actually. This is the first place that I have a tool to study the original words as a layman. And it is that Library open up my eyes so that I know there is a way to study the word of God more seriously (for layman). And only after that, gradually I know that some software can do similar job too. And finally I am here using Logos.
Thank the Lord very much.
And if you know more about how the CBL fades out. I would like to know more about it.
Thanks.

I met Brother Gilbrant as a grad student in Springfield MO. In 1987 I was a freelance editor producing the 1st English volume of CBL-- The Commentary on Acts. Tor Inge had a major hard drive crash and much time was lost. After receiving my M.Div., Brother Gilbrant hired me full time and I added a more extensive critical apparatus in the Commentaries and then became Managing Editor of the 5 volumes of the Greek/English Dictionary. Later I composed Vol. 17--The Greek Grammar/Index.
Mr. Gilbrant was a genius and added many features at the last minute, such as the cross references to TDNT, Strongs, Bauer, etc in the Dictionaries. As I explained the amount of research, proofreading/editing man-hour with a projected cost, as was his custom, he waved off the details and simply said these aspects were vital and Just do whatever is necessary. I loved that man.
At one point in about 1990, he was living in his small apartment in Springfield and was quite discouraged--which was not typical. The Lord brought to my mind a prophetic word spoken to me in 1981. The Lord said I would have opportunity to study His word (seminary) and that the ministry He was preparing me for would "not reach hundreds, or thousands, or even tens of thousands. The work I have called you into will reach hundreds of thousands..."
Upon hearing this testimony, Brother Gilbrant leaped off of his recliner and became very excited and animated. The Holy Spirit reinvigorated him and poured a fresh zeal and hope into his heart. I shall never forget that day, and dozens like it when we in Springfield were graced by his visits. I am happy to report that he was extremely pleased with the English version of his CBL.
If you have any information about Tor Inge, please let me know. Your brother in Christ--Denis Vinyard

I agree. I own the The Complete Library NT in book format (a treasure to have) and I kick myself for not having bought the OT when they had it (the complete set was about $700.00 10-14 years ago). Now the competitor has it for $1500.00 in software format which, in my opinion is high robbery to say the least.
If Logos would get their hands on, I would buy both with my eyes closed as long as they make it affordable, but since Mac for Logos is taking such a long time to come out, (I had to say it, sorry!), I don't see it as a real possibility in the future, but I would love to be "dead wrong." [;)]

If it's the one published by Gospel Publishing House then it is Penticostal. Many of the writings were writen by Stanley M Horton. But it will be good for anyone - Penticostals are evangelica. I don't want to have to put two big bible progragrams on my computer myself - I wish they would hurry up and put the collection in print.

It's the people who wrote parts of the Library that most people are interested in. But yes, those two dictionaries will do just fine.

That is not the same product. The series they are talking about in this thread was created by Thoralf Gilbrant and published by World Library Press in Springfield, MO
I have owned two hard-copy sets of Gilbrant's New Testament production. My wife enjoyed them very much. I would like it in Logos but as Todd asked early on in this thread; "It seems to me that Logos already has all those functions (greek/hebrew
lexicons, interlinears, word study analysis, etc). What features in
particular do you like that Logos doesn't have?"We can already accomplish every feature of the book version AND the software version using Logos 4. We can even customize the resources according to our liking. The only thing we must do is learn all the features of Logos 4. With the several instructional video sources and the catalog of fine resources we can have better study than Gilbrant envisioned.
Here are some training videos that will maximize your use of Logos 4:
- Camp Logos Live brings the seminar home to you.
- Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software
- Logos Academic Training has a special focus for those in seminary (shipping next week)
- Learn to Do Word Studies with Logos Bible Software without knowing the original languages! (shipping soon)
disclosure: I do own the software version of The Complete Biblical Library: New Testament in "other-than-Logos." I speak not in ignorance when I claim you can supersede this work with Logos 4 tools.

I hope and pray that Logos will now get access to the "Complete Biblical Library" because Wordsearch has been bought out by Lifeway which is a Southern Baptist entity. We Pentecostals/Charismatics are big fans of the word of God and love Logos, but we need our sets of resources. Here is a sampling:
The works by Stanley Horton
Works of P.C. Nelson
Works of Thomas Holdcroft,
Works of William Menzies
Access to the Flower Pentecostal Heritage center documents (can be downloaded into logos) DREAM ON, I KNOW.
The Complete Biblical Library
Perhaps a Gospel Publishing House Collection
PNEUMA issues (scholarly publication of Classical Pentecostals)
All the issues of the Pentecostal Evangel, Advance, Enrichment, etc.

Thoralf Gilbrandt passed away in Feb, 2006. He was a personal friend of mine, yet some 26 years older than me. He was a Dear friend of both my parents, who were pioneer missionaries to Mocambique,(where I was born) and later South Africa. Thoralf Gilbrandt, as my parents, were of Norwegian descent, and my parents and Thoralf Gilbrant were part of teh Norwegian Pentecostal movement, affilliated with teh assemblies of God, in Springfield Mo. The Last time I saw Thoralf Gilbrant was at the A.G. headquartes, together with Ralph Harris, and two other younger theologians, myself and then General secretary of the A.G., My friend Raymond Carlsen. Thoralf Gilbrant and I had many conversations on eschatology, before I finalized my treatise on the "first resurrection and it's seven distinct and different orders". Of Course the A.G. did not agree with the biblical facts I presented, as they had "bought into" the fraudulent Darby / Irving "pre-trib" Rapture theory. (my book "None Dare Call It Deception" is available at my website. just google 'sorensen ministries'. Thoralf Gilbrant had a tremendeous knowledge in the scriptures, and I had the greatest respect for him. I believe few theologians of our day could hold their own with him. So much for you calling him and 'old Man'

Morgan,
We were informed in this post of Gilbrandt's passing. If he had not passed already, he would have indeed been an "old man" by everyone's estimation. I praise God for men like Gilbrandt who work so hard for God they get old doing it. What better way to spend one's life?
Rosie meant no disrespect stating the obvious. Her guess that he would not be involved in the publishing of his work in Logos turned out to be correct.
I bet you feel blessed to have known him.

The Complete Biblical Library is not a Logos product. Maybe you should post on the WordSearch forum. It is also still under copyright so you should ask WordSearch for a free license. If they deem your project of translating from the Koine Greek into Modern Greek worthy of a free license, they may donate a copy to your efforts. Otherwise it sounds like you are asking for a pirated copy.
Logos has asked that their forums not be used to conduct business transactions or to post things unrelated to using Logos software. Thank you for your efforts in Bible translation. [C]

I have the CBL NT17 vol set printed edition and have acquired a 15 vol OT set without the 7 volume dictionaries. Curiously volume 17 of the NT set is a grammar and index which includes both the CBL to Strongs conversion numbering for both the New and Old Testament volumes in the 39 complete set. To obtain the 7 volume OT Dictionary could set one back up to $1500 dollars which is prohibitive. So I am wondering if the 50 or so pages dealing with CBL OT conversion numbers appear anywhere else as I certainly don't want to mutilate my index volume. There is no pdf download that I can find on the internet covering this which would enable me to swiftly access my private theology library which covers many Judaic/ Christian standard reference works ......probably in excess of 2,000 tomes.

Faithlife does not care if these companies are mentioned just do not mention them to say COMPANY X has such a better deal on product Y or Logos sucks compared to X program (now that said they are open to hearing why COMPANY X program is better for A B and C as means of constructive criticism. What is definitely verboten is sharing a link to a competitor's product. As a fan of Accordance I have had discussions with the various merits of both software and been told by Phil Gons that it was not crossing the line indeed the only time I officially was rebuked and in a private email by Bob was complaining about the limitations of the the then mobile app verses the the as yet unreleased Accordance app because as he pointed out if memory serves in effect I am comparing a released product with some ethereal unknown (my wording of the gist of the email). Which I agreed and apologized for. That is not to say I like others have not skirted really close to the edge on these issues when mentioned ANOTHER software company has a great sale on Bible Speaks Today go search for it. Even in these cases I do not remember being sanctioned by FL even though that really is pushing it. All in all FL does seem to want a free flow of discussion just no direct promotion of competitors nor negative comments on their software (constructive criticism always seems welcome, even when on some issues it feels like we are merely tilting at windmills)...

No, UserVoice is not a Logos (Faithlife) business. It is a separate company (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UserVoice) that any company can use to set up user feedback voting systems on. Faithlife has officially set up these UserVoice boards for users to give feedback, and representatives of the company do look at them and provide feedback from time to time. And occasionally the requests do make it into pre-pub. I find that the responses to UserVoice suggestions are pretty slow in coming, though. But it seems to be the best way we have of petitioning Faithlife to get products we want.

It is interesting to hear something from the past. It is almost a year ago when I asked this. Time flies. Actually this thread will reached a decade old very soon. And we still don't have Complete Biblical Library in Logos. On the other hand, a lot has changed in this decade making me not really need this anymore.

I created my own layout to sort of mirror the CBL and it’s much better like that. WORDsearch offers it and looks great and Accordance just released it with a note stating that some resources were left out since the program can perform the same function. Logos can do so much more, just create your own costume layout with your own favorite resources. 👍😁👌

We want to get you your Wordsearch content as quickly as possible, so we are first converting all titles to Faithlife Ebooks.
We realise that titles like The Complete Biblical Library require a higher level of tagging, so we will be upgrading select Wordsearch titles to Logos Reader Editions or Logos Research Editions. (See https://community.logos.com/forums/p/190556/1098949.aspx#1098949 for details on Logos Editions.)
This additional tagging may take a few weeks or months to produce, but when it's complete, your copy of The Complete Biblical Library will automatically update to include all the rich tagging and advanced Logos features.
