Cheat sheet? (maybe it's the wrong word to use here.)

Hi all.

I have started to study all dataset documentation to start learning how it works. I must say that the amount of information is overwhelming. I soon discovered that one of my biggest challenges will be to remember how & where each of them can be accessed. I know and appreciate the fact that most of them are available in the context menu when right-clink on a word. But, some are only accessible by opening up the Passage Guide, the Bible Word Study guide and others through the Factbook.

Since I am only starting to learn how and from where these data sets work, I forget where to look for them. Is there a sort of cheat sheet available? Maybe a one pager to help us remember where to look for what? If not, I will start making my own, but I was just wondering. 🤔

Thanks, Deon.

I don't have an answer for your question. But, I do have some questions for you that may render your question needless of an answer.

Does not use of the tool which is the subject of the dataset inform your question without the need for reading the documentation? What are you learning when you read the documentation?

I just thought maybe there is a quick reference sheet available. Then it is just me who cannot remember where to access everything. I started to putting one together for myself.

    Thanks.

Would making a collection of your documentation documents for the purpose of querying the datasets be helpful in answering your questions?

Here is my solution in the form of a Collection.

Someone else may offer a better Rule. I believe this Rule captures all existing Dataset Documentations.

I think we have a small misunderstanding of what I meant. [:)] Please see my attached screen-shot. What I meant was to have a piece of paper with some short-cuts. I do this in Excell as I go on studying the different data sets.

before you get too deep into this project, I recall another Forum user compiling a similar sheet about 3 months ago, considering which guides lead to which information. If I'm not wrong, I believer it was MJ. You may want to search for posts about a "Guide to Guides" or something similar. As I recall it had 4 different colors that traced how all the datasets contribute to the standard guides.

EDIT: I found this comment on a thread you posted last Saturday. It was MJ Smith who was working on that project. I don't have time to sort through the 28K comments to find the graphic. - https://community.logos.com/forums/p/190449/1098148.aspx#1098148

Thanks David. This is exactly what I was referring to. Thanks a million. [Y]

This is good! How did you arrive at the conclusion that Background Slides should be classified under Factbook? See what my approach yields.

My approach yields useful results as I will demonstrate and hopefully you and other users will benefit from my efforts.di

Edit: My post was corrupted some how. I will condense and repost shortly just the images. Sorry[*-)]

In each instance the relevant information is gathered and moreover, additional information is revealed; N.B. that the Information panel is added to results relevant to lemma in passage! I welcome criticism and refinement of my method.

It appears that the sole instance of corruption exists with the important words section. See below.

The documentation identifies the Passage Guide and various Workflows with an addendum, as sources for Important Words. Please forgive the error, I own it.

I'm not sure what you mean as the Passage Guide and various Workflows are sources for Important Words.

You might find this rule useful:

    type:manual OR (type:glossary AND subject:(glossaries, discourse))

You are quite right and I did not mean to convey that I refuted the conclusion. The error I speak of is the leaving out of the preceding post the supporting information that post that followed contained. It was this error that I owned up to. Thank you for allowing me an occasion to make this clear.

    Yes! Dave,

This is better being more comprehensive and elegant. I have thrown out the clunker for the sleek new version. [8-|]Thank you.
